It’s getting intense in the middle of the 2009 NFL season. The Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints needed great second-half performances to remain unbeaten, while a rookie quarterback, Josh Freeman, throws three touchdowns to lead the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to an upset win over the Green Bay Packers in his professional debut. For this week, we’ll advise you to avoid picking up Freeman after just one good game, but if he continues this play, he is definitely a guy to watch. There are still a lot of great players available in free agency, whether you need help for just one week or the rest of the season. Particularly, if you’re in need of a wide receiver, then be sure to continue reading Fantasy Football Week 10 Waiver Wire - Pick Them Up piece below. You’ll be sure to love it.

QUARTERBACKS - PICK THEM UP

Matt Cassel (Kansas City Chiefs)

Having seen Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback, Matt Cassel, struggle this season, it’s clear he may not be the guy the team was hoping he’d be. However, it looks like first-year head coach Todd Haley, an offensive guru, is starting to get things together for the Chiefs’ offense, though the lack of a good line does hurt. Cassel played well this past week as he threw for 262 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. He was spreading the ball around to different receivers and looked to have good command of the offense. Cassel came on strong in the second half of last season, so don’t be too surprised if he finishes strong again. Nevertheless, because the team has issues along the line and at running back, Cassel should only be considered for spot duty or in deep leagues.

RUNNING BACKS - PICK THEM UP

Ladell Betts (Washington Redskins)

Clinton Portis was already questionable heading into week nine because of an ankle injury, and now that the running back has suffered a concussion, it appears likely that he will be out for at least the next week and probably longer. Portis was knocked out so bad that he had no recollection of the game with the Atlanta Falcons. In his absence, Ladell Betts will get the start. Betts has always been one of the better back-ups in the league but hasn’t had too much of a chance to shine because Portis has been so durable. Now that he’s the guy, you should expect Betts to get at least 20 touches on the ball, and while his power running style won’t generate a huge amount of yards, he is still a good play in any league for week 10.

WIDE RECEIVERS - PICK THEM UP

Earl Bennett (Chicago Bears)

Chicago Bears’ receiver, Earl Bennett, has yet to catch a touchdown pass this season, but with Jay Cutler at quarterback, it won’t be long until he reverses that trend. Bennett is a guy with great potential, but for some reason, he has not been fully able to establish himself with the Bears. This past weekend’s performance, in which Bennett caught seven passes for 93 yards, should help him see more playing time and more targets. Because Devin Hester, Johnny Knox and Greg Olsen, also, figure prominently into the Bears’ passing offense, Bennett’s value is limited for now. Thus, he should be considered only in deeper leagues.

Devery Henderson (New Orleans Saints)

New Orleans Saints’ receiver, Devery Henderson, will never be confused for a possession receiver, but he has improved at catching passes. And, when he does get the ball, he is good at making the most out of it, as he’s averaging 15.6 yards per reception. Against the Panthers, Henderson only caught three passes, yet he had 93 yards. He’s only got one touchdown on the season and will often fall behind Marques Colston, Lance Moore and Robert Meachem in the pecking order, so for now, he should only be considered in deeper leagues. However, his speed makes him a game-breaker, and if he starts consistently catching more passes per game, then he would be worth owning in any league.
