WEEK 16 FALLERS
QB Brady Quinn (Cleveland Browns) - Just a reminder that Quinn has landed on the IR with what is being a called a mid-foot sprain. Following a three game span from week 11 to week 13 in which he accumulated a total of 60 fantasy points, Quinn struggled of late, notching just four fantasy points combined over his last two games.
QB JaMarcus Russell (Oakland Raiders) - Despite leading the Raiders on a game-winning drive against the Denver Broncos in week 15, Russell will continue to be the team’s back-up QB as head coach, Tom Cable, is opting to go with Charlie Frye as his starter for week 16.
QB Michael Vick (Philadelphia Eagles) - While Vick’s role in the Eagles’ offense is minimal, making him fantasy irrelevant, it is worth noting that the QB is dealing with a quad injury that will likely sideline him in week 16.
RB Michael Turner (Atlanta Falcons) - He may just be sporting a questionable tag, but all indications are pointing to the fact that Turner will sit on Sunday. The Falcons’ running back did not practice at all throughout the week and has seen early exits in each of his comeback games. Meanwhile, the team is no longer in the playoff hunt and has capable fill ins to use in Turner’s absence. It’s best to stay away from Turner in week 16.
RB DeAngelo Williams (Carolina Panthers) - Unlike the Falcons with Michael Turner, the Carolina Panthers are not showing any desire to rush their stud running back back into action following the re-aggravation of an ankle injury. The Panthers have listed Williams as doubtful for this weekend’s match-up with the New York Giants, so Williams’ owners will need to turn to Plan B.
RB Knowshon Moreno (Denver Broncos) - It’s been just one disappointment after another for fantasy owners of this Broncos’ back of late. If it weren’t bad enough that Moreno managed just seven fantasy points against the poor rush defense of the Oakland Raiders, it appears as if he’ll be sharing carries again in week 16 with Correll Buckhalter, who is listed as probable for the team’s game. Moreno is nothing more than a low-end RB2 / high-end flex play.
RB Justin Fargas (Oakland Raiders) - Fargas, who tweaked his knee in week 15, is listed as doubtful for this week’s contest with the Cleveland Browns.
RBs Brian Westbrook, LeSean McCoy, & Leonard Weaver (Philadelphia Eagles) - With Brian Westbrook set to make a return for the Eagles’ this weekend, all three RBs in Philly become risky plays as the division of the RB workload is up in the air. Westbrook will likely be eased into action, meaning it would be McCoy to see the lion’s share of carries, but that probably won’t be enough to make him anything more than a flex type play.
RB Julius Jones (Seattle Seahawks) - Already splitting time with Justin Forsett, Jones’ value dips even further as he goes into this week’s match-up with the Green Bay Packers, the second best rush defense in the league, listed as questionable due to a rib injury. Keep Jones on your bench!
RB Derrick Ward (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) - After experiencing soreness in his knee following practice this week, Ward has been downgraded to questionable for this weekend’s match-up with the New Orleans Saints. Ward is coming off on of his best outings of the season, but with the injury, we’re going to continue to stay away.
WR Mark Clayton (Baltimore Ravens) - A questionable designation due to a bad hammy is enough to keep us from considering Clayton fantasy relevant for week 16 despite his 129 yard effort against the Steelers earlier this season.
WR Eddie Royal (Denver Broncos) - Not that he has had much fantasy appeal of late, but for those fantasy owners still hoping Royal will return to his 2008 form, we feel the need to inform you that that won’t be happening this weekend as the Broncos’ have ruled the wide receiver out for their game with the Philadelphia Eagles.
WR Pierre Garcon (Indianapolis Colts) - Garcon owners’ may actually be happy that the wide out has been deemed out for the team’s game with the New York Jets as it does save them the head ache surrounding the majority of Colts this weekend.
WR Devin Thomas (Washington Redskins) - A boom or bust play this season, with more busts than booms, Thomas is doubtful for the Redskins’ divisional match-up with the Dallas Cowboys. Starting in Thomas’ place will be Malcolm Kelly; however, with just one performance in which he hauled in more than two passes on the year, we’d avoid Kelly in week 16.
TE Jeremy Shockey (New Orleans Saints) - As was the case last week, Shockey is listed as questionable with a toe injury. If you remember, Shockey ended up sitting out the Saints’ soiree with the Dallas Cowboys in week 15 due to the injury. Proceed with caution!
TE Zach Miller (Oakland Raiders) - Miller, who is rebounding from his second concussion of the season, is listed as questionable for this week’s contest. While Miller has showed some promise this season, he continues to be limited due to the Raiders’ QB situation. As such, it’s best to stay away in week 16.
K Neil Rackers (Arizona Cardinals) - It’s more bad news for Rackers’ owners who were looking to benefit from the Cardinals weak schedule during the fantasy playoffs as the kicker will miss yet another game due to a groin injury.
K Matt Stover / Adam Vinatieri (Indianapolis Colts) - Like with the rest of the Colts’ players, even the kicking situation is in flux this week. It appears the team will keep both kickers active for their Sunday match-up with the Jets. This will allow them to see if Vinatieri will be available for the playoffs, while also giving them a security blanket if Vinatieri gives it a go and finds out he can’t kick. It’s best to avoid this situation all together.
