Ray Rice (Baltimore Ravens) @ New England
Rice had 60 yards on 21 carries along with four catches for 20 yards in the Divisional Round against the Houston Texans, as he failed to top 100 total yards for the first time since Thanksgiving. A nice chance to rebound is coming in the AFC Championship against the New England Patriots, who have allowed a touchdown to an opposing running back in six of their last seven games and have allowed at least 100 rushing yards to the position in five of their last six contests. The Ravens will certainly look to establish the run in an effort to control the clock and keep the New England offense on the sideline, so Rice stands to get all the work he can handle as a runner and a receiver. This is one upper echelon fantasy player from the regular season still available this week, so fantasy owners should not hesitate to use Rice this Sunday.
Frank Gore (San Francisco 49ers) vs. New York Giants
Gore had 13 carries for 89 yards and seven receptions for 38 yards last Saturday against the New Orleans Saints, but did suffer an injury to his right leg on the team’s final drive. He is expected to play this weekend against the New York Giants, and will get a fairly tough matchup to boot. The Giants have not allowed even 60 yards on the ground to an individual running back since Week 14 and have allowed just two touchdowns to the position over their last seven games. That said, Gore should get a fair amount of carries as the 49ers look to neutralize the Giants’ pass rush and should continue to be involved as a pass receiver as well. Be sure to monitor his status as Sunday gets closer, but right now Gore looks like one of the top running backs available to fantasy owners this weekend.
