Bears sign WR Bennett to 4-year extension

The Chicago Bears signed wide receiver Earl Bennett to a four-year contract extension Friday.

The deal was worth $18 million for Bennett, including $9 million in guaranteed money.

In his fourth season with the Bears, Bennett has 18 receptions for 276 yards and one touchdown this season. He missed five games due to injury.

Bennett was a college teammate of Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, who is currently sidelined with a broken thumb.

He had a combined 100 receptions in the previous two seasons, with a career-high 54 in 2008-09.
