With four more teams having this Sunday off, Week 8 should bring more lineup scrambling than any other week of the season. Permanent fixtures in lineups such as Ray Rice, A,J Green, Arian Foster, Andre Johnson are all off, so some of the players discussed in this article could be their bye-week replacements.
It’s a tough time for fantasy owners and that’s why studying matchups are imperative during this stretch of the season. So without further adieu, these are the key matchups we’re looking at here in Week 8.

Matt Hasselbeck vs. Indianapolis Colts Defense

Matt Hasselbeck has been the talk of much fantasy speculation over the past couple of weeks as a potential plug to fill leaks that owners have at the quarterback position. He had a prime opportunity to post a top-10 fantasy day against a weak Buffalo Bills pass defense, but Chris Johnson’s monster day squandered a lot of that.

This week he’ll get another shot at putting up some good numbers when the Tennessee Titans welcome the Indianapolis Colts to town for an AFC South showdown.

The Colts defense has given up the fifth most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers this season; 11 of the 12 passing touchdowns allowed have come from the receiver position. That’s good news for guys like Kenny Britt, Nate Washington and rookie stud Kendall Wright who are sure to get their fair share of targets in this game.

Of course, there is the off-chance that CJ2K has another ridiculous performance, which again, could kill Hasselbeck’s day. The Colts are also giving up the fourth most fantasy points to opposing running backs. Either way, it looks like this could be the veteran’s last start, so hopefully owners will get a bit more out of him than his No. 16 projection in the Bruno Boys quarterback rankings.
