The NFL is heading into Week 3 of the 2012 season and this is where fantasy football owners need to start paying closer attention to matchups. Certain players are struggling, others are thriving, and we’re starting to see trends develop across the board. Taking note of these trends and adjusting your lineups accordingly will help you get an edge in your fantasy football leagues. Now let’s analyze these seven key matchups as we head into Sunday.
Brandon Marshall vs. Cortland Finnegan
The Chicago Bears and their star receiver Brandon Marshall are fresh off a forgettable 23-10 division loss to the Green Bay Packers, where the newly acquired WR finished with two catches for 24 yards; his night included him dropping a would be touchdown that slipped right through his hands.
Well he and the Bears need to shake off this loss and try to focus on the St. Louis Rams who just surprised a lot of people by beating Robert Griffin III and the Washington Redskins.
The Rams secondary is led by pro bowl corner Cortland Finnegan who will be shadowing Marshall most of the afternoon. The undersized corner is no stranger to taking on big, physical WR’s either—we all remember his battle(s) with Andre Johnson. He’s having a great start to the season and already has an INT return for a touchdown.
This has all the makings of a great battle between two of the best players at their respective positions—one that could give Marshall and his owners fits.
