Before the NFL free agency period gets frenzy, our NFL Draft expert Ernie Estrella is putting up his 2013 NFL Mock Draft: Round 1 (v2.0) given the performances at the NFL Scouting Combine and the current or future needs of each team. Of course, we cannot predict trades, but the following mock draft reflects a view of the draft if there was no movement, and how each position grades out. For example, the quarterbacks are weak this year so even though there are teams with the need, we don’t expect a large run on quarterbacks like we did in 2012.

Some positions like wide receiver, also grades lower than in previous years, so despite the Bufallo Bills needing a receiver, it’s hard to pass up the talent at the offensive line. Bruno Boys Ernie will continue to tweak his 2013 NFL Mock Draft based on free agents leaving and signing, injuries, pro-day workouts, and any trades or rumors that could alter the look of the mock.

1. Kansas City Chiefs (2-14)
Needs: Offense: WR QB OT / Defense: DE CB S
Pick: Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan

Releasing Eric Winston telegraphs what the team does at the top spot. They got their QB starter and given the weak field this year, they can wait for the second or third round and not see such a drop off. Fisher isn’t the trendy pick in the HailRedskins Mock Draft Database, however he is a dark horse candidate to go No. 1 overall.

2. Team: Jacksonville Jaguars (2-14)
Needs: Offense: OL WR QB / Defense: CB DE S
Pick: Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M

They’ll flirt with picking a quarterback, but the Jags need to help their young quarterback by giving him all the time he needs to develop.

3. Oakland Raiders (4-12)
Needs: Offense: OL WR RB / Defense: CB DL S
Pick: Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida

The Raiders need to fill so many holes, especially in the secondary but can’t justify it at three, so they should get the top DL if one of the top tackles don’t drop.

4. Philadelphia Eagles (4-12)
Needs: Offense: OT G WR/ Defense: S CB DE
Pick: Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma

Chip Kelly needs his QB protected and Johnson is probably the most athletic tackle prospect in years.

5. Detroit Lions (4-12)
Needs: Offense:  OT RB WR / Defense: DE CB S
Pick: Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama

Detroit needs to fill the hole left by Cliff Avril, but they need to address the hole at cornerback that has eluded them for so many years.

6. Cleveland Browns (5-11)
Needs: Offense: TE G QB / Defense: DE OLB CB
Pick: Ziggy Ansah, DE, BYU

For once the Browns don’t feel the need to move up to get their guy. They could sit and pick whichever of Jarvis Jones, Ziggy Ansah, or Barkevious Mingo, they have rated the highest because they need a pass-rushing 3-4 OLB. Unless of course Milliner gets past the Lions…

7. Arizona Cardinals (5-11)
Needs: Offense: QB OT RB / Defense: OLB DE S
Pick: Matt Barkley, QB, USC

He is not the most gifted rookie QB, but he’s probably the most complete passer. With Bruce Arians at head coach, he can’t go forward with average talent at the position.

8. Buffalo Bills (6-10)
Needs:Offense: WR QB OL / Defense: LB CB S
Pick: Chance Warmack, G, Alabama

Possibly the most powerful offensive lineman in the draft, Warmack is a beast. With the Bills strength being in the run game, Warmack solidifies the offensive line allowing some of the mediocre talent in the skill positions to thrive.

9. New York Jets (6-10)
Needs:Offense: OL QB WR / Defense: OLB CB DE
Pick: Jarvis Jones, DE, Georgia

Jones’ medical condition scares a few teams at the top of the draft but he won’t slip past Rex Ryan.

10. Tennessee Titans (6-10)
Needs:Offense: OL TE RB / Defense: S CB DE
Pick: Dion Jordan, DE, Oregon

Sorely needing help in getting to the passer, Jordan is a physical specimen that will get the Titans back on the right track.

11. San Diego Chargers (7-9)
Needs:Offense: T G WR / Defense: ILB CB S
Pick: Jonathan Cooper, G, North Carolina

Would have loved to get in on all of the tackles, but will settle for one of the best guards. Cooper would help the run game and is extremely quick on his feet.

12. Miami Dolphins (7-9)
Needs:Offense: WR OT TE / Defense: CB S DL
Pick: Cordarelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee

Hard to pass up the freak of the draft at the position of greatest need on offense. Paired with Hartline and potentially Mike Wallace or Greg Jennings and the Dolphins upgrade their receivers big time.

13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-9)
Needs: Offense: OL TE WR/ Defense: CB DT
Pick: Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah State

Bucs fill one of their biggest needs and know that the draft is deep in defensive back.

14. Carolina Panthers (7-9)
Needs: Offense: RT LT WR / Defense: DT DB LB
Pick: Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri

Cringed to see Lotulelei picked ahead of them but didn’t expect he’d get to them anyway.

15. New Orleans Saints (7-9)
Needs: Offense: OL TE / Defense: DE SS OLB NT
Pick: Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida St.

This draft is all about fixing the defense after Bounty gate and Werner is a stud at DE.

16. St. Louis Rams (7-8-1)
Needs: Offense: WR G RB / Defense: OLB SS
Pick: Keenan Allen, WR, California

With Danny Amendola potentially leaving in free agency, the Rams need to get vertical in a big way this year or Sam Bradford is going to waste.

I think the Pats have a stronger need for a CB then they do for a FS.  Perhaps they will fill that need before the draft with free agents.
