The NFL has officially started the 2013 offseason and with free agency in full swing we have seen a lot of teams revamp their starting lineups based on needs. With that in mind, our newest writer, and Dynasty/Keeper league guru Kyle Barlow took a crack at his own 2013 NFL Mock Draft: Round 1.
Bruno Boys KB will continue to tweak his 2013 NFL Mock Draft based on free agents leaving and signing, injuries, pro-day workouts, and any trades or rumors that could alter the look of the mock.
1. Kansas City Chiefs (2-14)
Needs: Offense: WR QB OT / Defense: DE CB S
Pick: Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M
Hailed by some as the best offensive tackle prospect since Tony Boselli, Kansas City will either take an lineman or trade down. Reid’s past drafts show one thing, he loves linemen. Joeckel is the consensus No. 1 overall pick in Walter Football’s Mock Draft Database.
2. Team: Jacksonville Jaguars (2-14)
Needs: Offense: OL WR QB / Defense: CB DL S
Pick: Sharif Floyd, DT, Florida
They’ll flirt with taking an offensive lineman, but the Jags need help at other places and cant pass up the best all around DT in the draft. A lot of mock drafts in the Sports Jabber Mock Draft Database have the Jaguars taking either Floyd or Dion Jordan.
3. Oakland Raiders (4-12)
Needs: Offense: OL WR RB / Defense: CB DL S
Pick: Ziggy Ansah, DE, BYU
The Raiders have a lot of needs, as an homage to Al Davis don’t be surprised if they select the biggest physical specimen in the draft. Ansah has legit star potential only drawback is he’s incredibly raw.
4. Philadelphia Eagles (4-12)
Needs: Offense: OT G WR/ Defense: S CB DT
Pick: Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan
Coin Flip between Fisher and Lane Johnson here. One thing is clear however, the Eagles need some O-Line help.
5. Detroit Lions (4-12)
Needs: Offense: OT RB WR / Defense: DE CB S
Pick: Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama
Detroit needs some defensive help, having the best CB prospect fall into their laps is too good to pass on at No. 5.
6. Cleveland Browns (5-11)
Needs: Offense: TE G QB / Defense: DE OLB CB
Pick: Dion Jordan, LB/DE, Oregon
Even with the addition of Paul Kruger, they could use another edge rusher and Jordan fits that bill.
7. Arizona Cardinals (5-11)
Needs: Offense: QB OT RB / Defense: OLB DE S
Pick: Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma
Arizona has needed O-Line help it seems for the last decade, getting Johnson or Eric Fisher would be a huge upgrade.
8. Buffalo Bills (6-10)
Needs: Offense: WR QB OL / Defense: LB CB S
Pick: Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia
With the release of Fitzpatrick, the Bills have a glaring need at quarterback. If they dont take Smith here I could see an O-Lineman.
9. New York Jets (6-10)
Needs: Offense: OL QB WR / Defense: OLB CB DL
Pick: Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah
Lotulelei’s medical condition scares a few teams at the top of the draft, but this top five talent won’t slip past Rex Ryan.
10. Tennessee Titans (6-10)
Needs: Offense: OL TE RB / Defense: CB DE LB
Pick: Jarvis Jones, DE, Georgia
Spinal Injury or not, there is no way Jones slips out of the top-10. Tennessee would be getting a steal if he falls this far.
11. San Diego Chargers (7-9)
Needs: Offense: T G WR / Defense: ILB CB S
Pick: Chance Warmack, G, Alabama
With the loss of Louis Vasquez the Chargers needs an interior lineman badly. Getting Warmack, the best run blocking guard in the draft, would be quite a coup.
12. Miami Dolphins (7-9)
Needs: Offense: OT RB WR / Defense: CB S DL
Pick: Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida State
The loss of Sean Smith and Vontae Davis in the last yearr necessitates the Dolphins taking the best available defensive back. Could also be Desmond Trufant or Jonathan Banks.
13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-9)
Needs: Offense: OL TE WR/ Defense: CB DL
Pick: Bjorn Werner, DE, Florida State
The Bucs lost Michael Bennett to Seattle and Da’Quan Bowers has some legal issues,. Getting the defensive end with the biggest motor in the draft would be a bargain at No. 13.
14. Carolina Panthers (7-9)
Needs: Offense: RT LT WR / Defense: DT DB LB
Pick: Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee
Taking Patterson here would maximize the last couple years of Steve Smith’s career and give them another viable weapon at WR, since Brandon Lafell has turned out to be a bust.
15. New Orleans Saints (7-9)
Needs: Offense: OL TE / Defense: DE SS OLB NT
Pick: Jonathan Cooper, G, North Carolina
Could easily be a D-Lineman, but loss of Carl Nicks (and Jermon Bushrod) last season has hurt and getting Cooper should solidify their line.
16. St. Louis Rams (7-8-1)
Needs: Offense: WR G RB / Defense: OLB SS
Pick: Kenny Vaccarro, S, Texas
With the release of Quentin Mikell the Rams could use a safety, the University of Texas standout has drawn comparions to former Longhorn Earl Thomas.

sorry boys but there’s no way RB is the Packers biggest need, and there’s no way they draft any RB in the 1st round.S.F. ran for over 300 yards, A. Peterson for over 400 yards in 2 games. How is a 1st round RB going to fix their run defense. In all of Ted Thompsons drafts to date: QB, OL,DL,LB. They badly need more height and talent @ DE and NT. Pickett turns 34 this year and Raji is best @ right end.Left tackle needs an upgrade, Sherrod is still a ? despite supposedly having recovered from the broken leg. T.J. Lang @ left guard is inconsistent, an upgrade there would be logical(but not serious). They will upgrade RB in the 2nd -4th rounds as well as WR. They also need depth @ OLB and they may draft a FS relatively high since they still are trying to replace Nick Collins. MOCKSTERS ALL, PLEASE UNDERSTAND, TED THOMPSON WILL NOT DRAFT A RB, WR, OR TE IN THE 1ST ROUND. 2nd round earliest and I have my doubts about that early. He can get Le’veon Bell or Stepfan Taylor 3rd or 4th rounds, Montee Ball maybe 3rd, these are 3 down backs that’s what they are looking for. Defens is still their #1 need this year.
