FANTASY FOOTBALL WEEK 9 STARTS:  QB  |  RB  |  WR  |  TE  |  K  |  DEF

Welcome to Week 9 of the 2012 NFL season and the fifth week of byes. Four teams are off this week including San Francisco, St. Louis, the New York Jets, and New England. Off the table are players like Sam Bradford, Dustin Keller, the 49ers defense, and no Rob Gronkowski.

Here are our “Fantasy Football Start ‘Ems” for Week 8 of the 2012 season. As a reminder, everyone knows to start elite players like Aaron Rodgers, Calvin Johnson, and LeSean McCoy, so when we compile our list we make sure to focus on serviceable players that will benefit from a favorable matchup.

TEAM DEFENSE – START ’EM

Green Bay Packers vs. Arizona

As the offense begins to churn out some impressive games, the Packers defense has been mediocre at best. They’ve lost Charles Woodson indefinitely, but help is on the way as B.J. Raji returns to solidify the run defense and bolster a front seven that already the league in sacks and yards for loss. They’ll all be licking their chops to get at the Cardinals’ weak offensive line.

Miami Dolphins at Oakland Raiders

The Phins has been slipping of late, allowing two straight weeks of 100-yard rushers. However, they’ve remained tough in the red zone, allowing just 11 touchdowns this season, while getting to the quarterback 22 times (tied for 3rd in sacks). They travel to Indianapolis to face the Colts who are averaging just 19.4 ppg and should be able to apply enough pressure to force rookie quarterback Andrew Luck into some tough decisions. Make sure to use them as a one week plug and play in Week 9.
