FANTASY FOOTBALL WEEK 9 STARTS: QB | RB | WR | TE | K | DEF
Welcome to Week 9 of the 2012 NFL season and the fifth week of byes. Four teams are off this week including San Francisco, St. Louis, the New York Jets, and New England. Off the table are players like Sam Bradford, Dustin Keller, the 49ers defense, and no Rob Gronkowski.
Here are our “Fantasy Football Start ‘Ems” for Week 8 of the 2012 season. As a reminder, everyone knows to start elite players like Aaron Rodgers, Calvin Johnson, and LeSean McCoy, so when we compile our list we make sure to focus on serviceable players that will benefit from a favorable matchup.
KICKERS – START ’EM
Garrett Hartley (New Orleans Saints) at Philadelphia
We’d be surprised to see the Eagles defense caught flat-footed like they were in Week 8, but all their problems can’t be fixed in a week. That’s why we think a Saints should make multiple visits into Philly territory; let’s not forget that the home team has not played flawless football in 2012 and that gives Hartley plenty of opportunities to score kicking either field goals or extra points, when the offense does make its mistakes.

Connor Barth (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) at Oakland Raiders
With the Buccaneers’ scores going up, so goes Barth’s scoring potential. His fantasy owners have to be encouraged by Tampa’s offense in October and especially their frequency in the red zone. Barth has also scored double figures in four games this season and is perfect on the road. We like his odds in pushing those numbers higher this week.
