The toughest part about a week in which six teams are on bye is that some players that we’d normally recommend benching are starts simply because of diluted playing pool. Now, some of the names on this list are big names, as usual, because we’re not going to recommend benching somebody who you already know should be benched. This list is for the guys who you think could start but find themselves with a bad situation. Take Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, for example. He’s averaged 19 fantasy points a game in his last three games and looked good last week on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles. Yet, Stafford finds himself on this list.
RUNNING BACKS - SIT ‘EM
William Powell (Arizona Cardinals) @ Minnesota
In his first NFL start Arizona Cardinals running back William Powell ran 13 times for 70 yards against the Buffalo Bills. Averaging 5.4 yards per carry is impressive, however odds aren’t in his favor to repeat this performance. Now he faces a Minnesota Vikings defense that is much tougher against the run than the Bills. Minnesota is tied for the second strongest fantasy defense against running backs, limiting them to an average of just eight fantasy points per game. At home the Vikings are giving up just 5.7 fantasy points per game to running backs. Powell has his work cut out for him on Sunday.
