Here are our “Fantasy Football Start ‘Ems” for Week 6 of the 2012 season. As a reminder, everyone knows to start elite players like Aaron Rodgers, Calvin Johnson, and LeSean McCoy, so when we compile our list we make sure to focus on serviceable players that will benefit from a favorable matchup.
RUNNING BACKS–START ’EM
Michael Turner (Atlanta Falcons) vs. Oakland Raiders
For all those who believe the Falcons are phasing Turner out of the offense, take out the two receiver reverses and four runs from Matt Ryan in last week’s win over the Redskins. Turner carried the ball 81% of the time and Jaquizz Rodgers rushed three times for four yards. We do believe that the Falcons will try to prolong Turner’s season by limiting his carries to around 20 per game. But as shown last week when he broke the tie with his third rushing touchdown of the season, Turner will be given the ball in clutch time. He’s got a favorable matchup against the Raiders, who have given up the fourth-most fantasy points to RBs, and are especially susceptible to giving up big plays to RBs who turn a short pass into a long gain.
