FANTASY FOOTBALL CUT LIST: QB | RB | WR | TE | K | DEF
Week 3 of the fantasy football season is in the books and we now have a pretty good idea on the players set to underachieve this season. Some players are just stuck on terrible teams while others are just plain bad. We’ve also added a few players to the list that should be dropped because of injury.
We’ve already released our list of waiver pickups to target in the Weekly Waiver Wire Savior, so if you are looking for players to dump in order to add new ones you can consider the guys below.
TIGHT ENDS—CUT THEM LOOSE
Mercedes Lewis, TE, Jacksonville Jaguars
After a solid Week 1 showing, Lewis took no trouble getting back to his normal self. He failed to record a catch in Week 2 and managed only one for eight yards in Week 3. It’s clear that the rapport with Blaine Gabbert is far from stable and outside of a good game here and there, you can’t expect any staying power from the former UCLA Bruin. Lewis plays in a terrible offense whose sole means of scoring comes from running back Maurice Jones-Drew. Name value means nothing, and Lewis’ big season is multiple years removed. There is absolutely no reason to own him right now.
Consider Dropping In: 10-team, 12-team and 14-team Leagues

Colby Fleener, TE, Indianapolis Colts
After a reasonable Week 1 performance, Fleener has had just two catches for 16 yards. He played less snaps this week than fellow TE Dwayne Allen. With Andrew Luck far ahead of his development schedule, the opportunities for tight ends as safety valves just aren’t there. At best Fleener looks to be in a time share. As a fantasy football owner, a time share is survivable at running back but you want no part in one at the tight end position. Drop him while there are still suitable replacements out there.
Consider Dropping In: 10-team, 12-team and 14-team Leagues
Cut Them Loose Watch List: Steve Chandler (Buffalo Bills), Jacob Tamme (Denver Broncos), Owen Daniels (Houston Texans),
Keep Them Cut: Dallas Clark (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Rob Housler (Arizona Cardinals), Ben Watson (Cleveland Browns), Anthony Fasano (Miami Dolphins), Lance Kendricks (St. Louis Rams), Tony Moeaki (Kansas City Chiefs), Joel Dreessen (Denver Broncos)
