FANTASY FOOTBALL CUT LIST:  QB  |  RB  |  WR  |  TE  |  K  |  DEF

The fantasy football season is young but we’ve already seen enough of some players to know that they are going to live up to our draft day expectations of them. Whether the plays has fallen behind on their teams’ depth charts, suffered an injury or bad play, these guys just aren’t worth rostering right now.

In any case, it’s really easy to want to cut all kinds of players this early in the season but we definitely advise against it. We’ve already release our list of waiver pickups to target in the Weekly Waiver Wire Savior. There are a lot of underachieving players that we would hang onto for at least another couple weeks, but here’s a list of the guys we’d drop right now to make room for potential additions. Just remember it’s too early in the season to start dumping elite players like Chris Johnson. Give your elite fantasy football players a chance to bounce back this week. A lot can change with another game in the books.

TIGHT ENDS—CUT THEM LOOSE

Ed Dickson, TE, Baltimore Ravens

It’s not that Dickson has played poorly this season so much as it is that Dennis Pitta has played on a whole new level. In week one the two were evenly matched but in week two it was obvious that Pitta was Flacco’s favorite target. Pitta was targeted 15 times, Dickson just four. From here on out it appears that Pitta will be the TE1 on the team. It’s unlikely that a team feeding Ray Rice the ball whenever possible can sustain two fantasy tight ends. Dickson looks to be the odd man out. With Pitta freely available in most leagues, there is no reason to hang onto Dickson.

Tony Moeaki, TE, Kansas City Chiefs

Poor Tony Moeaki! He seems permanently stuck in a situation that won’t allow him to reach his full potential. He has shown signs that he could be a good reliable receiver but he will always have a limited receiving role. Stuck in the Chiefs’ run first offense, he’s stuck blocking on most plays. When he’s not blocking, he’s stuck in the priority list behind the running backs and wide receivers that see consistent receiving time. Barring a rash of wide receiver injuries is just doesn’t look like Moeaki will ever be leaned on as a receiver outside the red zone. He actually managed six targets in week one when the Chiefs were forced to pass the whole game to catch up. He only caught three of the six targets for 37 yards. Unfortunately this year Moeaki also has to compete with Kevin Boss for targets in week two Moeaki caught just one of four targets for nine yards. As it is now, the Chiefs are a running offense that has little room for a consistent receiving tight end. Moeaki will have his good weeks here and there but they will be entirely unpredictable. Take a chance on another tight end. There are plenty to go around this season.
