RUNNING BACKS - PICK THEM UP

Kendall Hunter (San Francisco 49ers)

Hunter has six carries for 40 yards and a touchdown along with one reception for four yards against the New York Giants in Week 10, as he saw increased action when Frank Gore left the game due to a knee injury. Gore game into Sunday’s game with an ankle issue, so his status for Week 11 against the Arizona Cardinals has to considered up in the air despite 49ers’ head coach Jim Harbaugh proclaiming he would be able to play. If Hunter gets the starting nod, he should be able to take advantage of a Cardinals’ defense that has allowed nine running back touchdowns over their last six games. The rookie from Oklahoma State has yet to have double-digit carries in a game this season, but if Gore sits out next Sunday that should easily change. Fantasy owners who may find themselves without Gore’s services in a critical week should add Hunter immediately, and even those who do not own Gore can find a lot of upside here.

Consider Adding In: 10-Team, 12-Team and 14-Team Leagues, especially for Frank Gore owners

Lance Ball (Denver Broncos)

Ball had 30 carries for 96 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs, as he was virtually the last man standing in the Broncos’ backfield after Willis McGahee (hamstring) and Knowshon Moreno (knee) went down to injury. With the Broncos slated to take on the New York Jets on Thursday night in Week 11, the short week will certainly not help McGahee be ready to go and Moreno is slated for an MRI on his knee on Monday. So Ball looks to be in line for another nice workload against a Jets’ defense that entered Week 10 having allowed eight rushing touchdowns to opposing running backs as well as 4.3 yards per carry to the position. Owners who have relied on McGahee consider adding Ball immediately, and even those who are in need of a running back whose fantasy football stock is on the rise for Week 11 may want to add him as well

Consider Adding In: 12-Team and 14-Team Leagues, particularly for Willis McGahee or Knowshon Moreno owners
