::RANKINGS UPDATED AS OF SEPTEMBER 29, 2011::
A wild Week 3 of the 2011 NFL season is done and congratulations are in order for Detroit Lions receiver Calvin Johnson. Johnson became the first player ever to score at least two receiving touchdowns in each of a team’s first three games. However, the biggest wide receiver news to come out of Week 3 wasn’t Johnson’s history making accomplishment, and it wasn’t Torrey Smith’s shocking three-touchdown performance. It was Kenny Britt being lost for the season after tearing his MCL and ACL. Many of Britt’s owner’s, who were thriving off of the troubled wideout’s stellar start, will likely be unable to replace the void left by Britt in their lineup. Some owners have a strong replacement for Britt already, but others who are in deeper leagues are wondering who they should start this week.
Hopefully our Fantasy Football Week 4 Wide Receiver Rankings will lend a hand to the Kenny Britt owners out there and assist others with looming wide receiver questions heading into their matchup.

Standard Scoring
Pass TD: 4 points | All Other TDs: 6 points
25 Passing Yards: 1 point | All Turnovers: -2 points
10 Rushing Yards: 1 point | 10 Receiving Yards: 1 point
1. Calvin Johnson (Detroit Lions) @ Dallas
Is there any surer bet to score a touchdown from the wide receiver position? Johnson had a monster game against the Minnesota Vikings, hauling in seven receptions for 108 yards and scoring two touchdowns. He is averaging a ridiculous two touchdowns per game so far this season, and is the league leader in touchdowns (6) scored. The Dallas Cowboys have only allowed an average of 16.3 fantasy points to the wide receiver position this season, but defensive statistics don’t matter when talking about Megatron. There’s little reason not to expect another great game from Calvin “Two Touches” Johnson this week.
Point Projection: 19 points

2. Andre Johnson (Houston Texans) vs. Pittsburgh
How many New Orleans Saints does it take to cover Andre Johnson? The answer is unknown at this time, but it’s more than three. Johnson had seven receptions for 128 yards against the New Orleans Saints in Week 3. He now has at least seven receptions and 93 yards receiving in every game this season. The Pittsburgh Steelers have been terrific against wide receivers this season allowing a league best average of 10.7 fantasy points to the position. However, they haven’t had to deal with a receiver of Johnson’s caliber so far this season. Andre is too good to be held down.
Point Projection: 17 points
3. Greg Jennings (Green Bay Packers) vs. Denver
Jennings had career high nine receptions for 119 receiving yards against the Chicago Bears in Week 3. Even though Jermichael Finley was the only member of the Green Bay Packers receiving core to find pay dirt, Jennings was productive and received the more targets (10) than any other Green Bay Packers receiver. Many of the sports betting websites project this game to be a blowout and the Denver Broncos have struggled over the last two weeks giving up 451 yards and three touchdowns to the wide receiver position. There is no reason not to expect another stellar outing from Jennings this week.
Point Projection: 16 points
4. Mike Wallace (Pittsburgh Steelers) @ Houston
Is there any defensive back that can keep up with Wallace when he’s in a full sprint? That’s a trick question, because there really is no question. Wallace had five receptions for 144 yards and scored his second touchdown of the season against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 3. The Mississippi Alum has at least five receptions and 107 receiving yards in every game this season. The Houston Texans have allowed an average of 24.7 fantasy points per game to the wide receiver position and have allowed two receptions of more than 40 yards this season. Expect Wallace, who is second in the league in receiving yards (377), to have another big game this week.
Point Projection: 16 points

5. Vincent Jackson (San Diego Chargers) vs. Miami **QUESTIONABLE - EXPECTED TO PLAY IN WEEK 4**
VJAX followed his impressive Week 2 performance with a discouraging outing against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3, hauling in five receptions for 63 yards. Antonio Gates was out and Malcom Floyd had a limited snap count, so there was little reason for the Kansas City Chiefs defensive backs to not smother Jackson. The Miami Dolphins have allowed the fourth most fantasy points (27.3) to the wide receiver position this season, which bodes well for Jackson’s fantasy prospects this week. A healthier Malcom Floyd should take some pressure off of Jackson, which will allow him be one of the top receivers this week.
Point Projection: 16 points

6. Larry Fitzgerald (Arizona Cardinals) vs. New York Giants
Fitz had five receptions for 64 yards and scored a touchdown against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. It wasn’t the impressive performance expected from Fitzgerald this week, but he has been fairly consistent for his fantasy owners so far this season. The New York Giants defense was terrific last week, but they have allowed an average of 24 fantasy points per game to the wide receiver position this season. Kevin Kolb will find a way to connect with Fitz this week.
Point Projection: 16 points

7. Hakeem Nicks (New York Giants) @ Arizona **PROBABLE - EXPECTED TO PLAY IN WEEK 4**
Nicks had a forgettable performance against the Philadelphia Eagles catching three balls for 25 yards. The Philadelphia Eagles tough secondary was glued to Nicks most of the day, so Victor Cruz was able to reap the benefits. The Arizona Cardinals have struggled against the wide receiver position this season allowing an average of 24.0 fantasy points per game. Expect a bounce back performance for Nicks this week.
Point Projection: 15 points

8. Wes Welker (New England Patriots) @ Oakland
Wow! Welker had a whopping 16 receptions for 217 yards and scored two touchdowns against the Buffalo Bills in Week 3. He was far and away the team leader in targets (20). The Oakland Raiders have allowed the eighth most fantasy points (24.0) to the wide receiver position this season, so the slot machine has a pretty good chance of paying out again this week. Welker is a great No. 2 wide receiver in most fantasy leagues this week.
Point Projection: 15 points

9. Roddy White (Atlanta Falcons) @ Seattle **QUESTIONABLE - EXPECTED TO PLAY IN WEEK 4**
White had a spectacular game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, catching nine balls for 140 yards. Julio Jones also had over 100 yards receiving. If Jones can keep being productive, White, will receive less attention from defensive backs and have more performances similar to Week 3. The last time White went up against the Seattle Seahawks he had a solid game (seven receptions, 65 yards and a touchdown). Have no worries when starting White this week.
Point Projection: 15 points

10. Jeremy Maclin (Philadelphia Eagles) vs. San Francisco **PROBABLE - EXPECTED TO PLAY IN WEEK 4**
Maclin was listed as day to day after suffering a hamstring injury in Week 3, however he was upgraded to Probable by the end of the week and is expected to play on Sunday. Maclin has a fantastic matchup against a San Francisco 49ers’ team that has allowed the most touchdowns (5) to the wide receiver position this season. Look for the Eagles offense it be clicking this week and for both Maclin, and DeSean Jackson, to put together a complete game.
Point Projection: 14 points

11. Brandon Marshall (Miami Dolphins) @ San Diego
Marshall had his worst game of the season against the Cleveland Browns in Week 3, hauling in four receptions for 43 yards. A combination of Chad Henne completing only 19 passes and Cleveland Browns emerging star at cornerback, Joe Haden, covering Marshall were the primary reasons for his poor outing. The San Diego Chargers have been decent against the pass allowing an average of 20.3 fantasy points to the wide receiver position, but Marshall should receive the targets to be successful this week. It would be wise to expect a better game from Marshall this week.
Point Projection: 14 points
12. Steve Johnson (Buffalo Bills) @ Cincinnati
Any fantasy owners who had doubts about drafting Steve Johnson this season are probably hitting themselves with a frying pan right now. Okay, so maybe it isn’t that drastic. Johnson had eight receptions for 94 yards and scored a touchdown against the New England Patriots in Week 3. He has scored a touchdown in each of the Buffalo Bills’ three games this season. The Cincinnati Bengals have only allowed an average of 12.0 fantasy points per game to the wide receiver position. However, the Buffalo Bills’ offense continues to pour on the points, so there is no reason Johnson won’t be able to keep this production up. Johnson is an excellent No. 2/No. 3 receiver this week in standard fantasy leagues.
Point Projection: 14 points
13. Desean Jackson (Philadelphia Eagles) vs. San Francisco
Jackson had only two receptions for 30 yards against the New York Giants in Week 3. He has only four receptions for 51 yards over the past two weeks. However, Jackson maybe have his best game of the season this week against a San Francisco 49ers team that has allowed an average of the most fantasy points (35.5) to the wide receiver position this season. Even if he doesn’t see tons of targets, it only takes one big play for Jackson to get his fantasy points and the 49ers have been vulnerable to the big play over the first three weeks of the season.
Point Projection: 14 points

14. Dez Bryant (Dallas Cowboys) vs. Detroit **GAME-TIME DECISIONS -CHECK STATUS ON SUNDAY**
The Man-Child caught four passes for 63 yards against the Washington Redskins in Week 3. He led the Dallas Cowboys in receiving yardage, even though he was only targeted four times. The most important thing is Bryant appeared healthy in an anemic Dallas Cowboys offense. The Detroit Lions have been surprisingly good against the wide receiver position this season allowing an average of only 15.3 fantasy points per game, which is good enough for sixth in the league. However, Bryant should see more targets this week and use his set of spectacular skills to make his presence known. Expect a nice game for Bryant with Austin out this week.
Point Projection: 14 points
15. Santonio Holmes (New York Jets) @ Baltimore
Holmes had only one reception for 19 yards against the Oakland Raiders in Week 3. He was productive in the New York Jets first two games, but he has seen his targets decline on a weekly basis. The Baltimore Ravens are good at stuffing the run and the New York Jets running game hasn’t been effective, so Holmes could see heavy targets in Week 3 if the offense turns to the pass. The Baltimore Ravens have also allowed the most receptions (50) and an average of 23.7 fantasy points to the wide receiver position this season. Count on Holmes getting his groove back.
Point Projection: 13 points
16. Steve Smith (Carolina Panthers) vs. Chicago
Ah what happened in Week 3? Smith had only two receptions for 15 yards against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3. Cam Newton had an awful game only completing 18 passes for 158 yards, but the weather and poor field conditions were not doubt factors in why Newton couldn’t connect with Smith deep. The Chicago Bears have only allowed an average of 18.7 fantasy points to the wide receiver position this season, but Smith and Cam Newton have terrific chemistry and he has burned the Chicago Bears before in the past. Expect a bounce back game for Smith this week.
Point Projection: 12 points
17. Reggie Wayne (Indianapolis Colts) @ Tampa Bay
Wayne had three receptions for 24 yards against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 3. He was targeted 13 times, but appeared out for sync with Kerry Collins. Collins may miss the Indianapolis Colts’ Week 4 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, so backup, Curtis Painter, will likely be throwing to Wayne. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have allowed an average of 22 fantasy points per game to the wide receiver position this season. Wayne is still the Indianapolis Colts best option, receiver wise, so he will likely receive the targets to be successful this week.
Point Projection: 11 points

18.. Mario Manningham (New York Giants) @ Arizona **PROBABLE - EXPECTED TO PLAY IN WEEK 4**
Manningham hasn’t received full clearance from the New York Giants medical staff to play in Week 4, but he is expected to later this week. Manningham has seven receptions for 105 yards in two games this season, but has yet to score a touchdown. The Cardinals secondary leaves a lot to be desired, and with New York playing good football right now they should be able to control the style of play in the Desert. If he plays, look for Manningham to get back on track and use his speed to once again be called"Super Mario” by his fantasy football owners.
Point Projection: 11 points
19. A.J. Green (Cincinnati Bengals) vs. Buffalo
An excellent matchup – wasted. Green caught only four passes for 29 yards against a lousy San Francisco 49ers secondary in Week 3. No Cincinnati Bengals receiver had an excellent game as Andy Dalton only completed 17 passes and had two interceptions. The Buffalo Bills haven’t been great against the pass allowing an average of 23.7 fantasy points per game and it hasn’t been too difficult for opposing offenses to put up points against them, especially the last two games. Expect Green to have a much better game this week.
Point Projection: 11 points
20. Percy Harvin (Minnesota Vikings) @ Kansas City
Harvin had three receptions for 47 yards and added two carries for 41 yards against the Detroit Lions in Week 3. He could have had a better game, but a stomach illness caused Harvin to miss most of the fourth quarter. The Kansas City Chiefs have allowed 109 points through three games this season and have allowed average of 21.7 fantasy points per game to the wide receiver position. If Harvin is over his illness and plays this week, there’s a strong chance this could be one of Harvin’s better games this season.
Point Projection: 11 points
21. Mike Williams (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) vs. Indianapolis
Say it aint so Tampa Bay Mike? Williams had his second straight unimpressive game against the Atlanta Falcons, hauling in five passes for 43 yards. Josh Freeman wasn’t exactly impressive, but the results for Mike couldn’t be more discouraging for owners who used a third/fourth round pick on him in fantasy drafts. However, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense isn’t as bad as they have been playing lately. Perhaps an outing against the hapless Indianapolis Colts is just the right medicine needed to cure what ails the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense. Count on a productive game for Williams this week, but lose the high expectations.
Point Projection: 10 points
22. Dwayne Bowe (Kansas City Chiefs) vs. Minnesota
Welcome back to fantasy relevance Dwayne. Bowe caught four passes for 67 yards and scored a touchdown in a loss to the San Diego Chargers. Matt Cassel only completed 17 passes, which makes Bowe’s performance sort of fortunate. The Minnesota Vikings have allowed the fifth least fantasy points (15.0) to the wide receiver position this season, but have given up three wide receiving touchdowns. Still it’s tough to expect a great performance from Bowe with the Kansas City Chiefs passing attack being so putrid this season.
Point Projection: 10 points
23. Jordy Nelson (Green Bay Packers) vs. Denver
Nelson only had three receptions for 40 yards against the Chicago Bears in Week 3. There wasn’t much need for Nelson, as Aaron Rodgers was content with picking the Chicago Bears apart with Jermichael Finley and Greg Jennings. The Denver Broncos have allowed three touchdowns to the wide receiver position this season and the Green Bay Packers offense is clicking right now. Expect a better game for Nelson this week.
Point Projection: 9 points

24. Santana Moss (Washington Redskins) @ St. Louis
Moss had five receptions for 70 yards against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 3. He once again led the Washington Redskins in receiving yardage and targets (8). Moss is looking like a strong play this week against a banged up St. Louis Rams secondary that has allowed the second most fantasy points (28.7) to the wide receiver position this season. A fantasy owner could do much worse for a No. 3 receiver this week.
Point Projection: 9 points

25. Lance Moore (New Orleans Saints) @ Jacksonville
Moore was spectacular against the Houston Texans, leading the New Orleans Saints receiving core with nine receptions for 88 yards and a touchdown. His groin clearly wasn’t bothering him anymore as he received nine targets, which was tied for the team lead. The Jacksonville Jaguars have been tough against the wide receiver position this season, but they haven’t had to deal with an offense as prolific as the New Orleans Saints this year. Moore is a great No. 3 receiver choice in most fantasy leagues this week.
Point Projection: 9 points
