::RANKINGS UPDATED AS OF DECEMBER 4, 2011::
It’s Week 13, which means the fantasy playoffs are starting in many head to head leagues. At this point in the season, many fantasy owners are evaluating the weekly pickups they made or didn’t make. They are also examining their draft picks. Owners who were astute and punctual enough to pickup receivers like Victor Cruz and Antonio Brown may still be in the hunt for a championship.
However, those who drafted Mike Thomas and Chad Ochocinco are possibly in “wait until next year” mode. For those owners still in contention during this crucial week in fantasy football we strongly hope our Fantasy Football Week 14 Wide Receiver Rankings will help make some of your heart wrenching decisions easier.
Standard Scoring

1. Calvin Johnson (Detroit Lions) @ New Orleans
In a crushing loss to the Green Bay Packers, Johnson didn’t set the world on fire, but he finished with a respectable stat line (four receptions, 49 yards and a touchdown). It was Johnson’s ninth game where he has scored at least 10 fantasy points. The New Orleans Saints have allowed 700 receiving yards and two touchdowns to the receiver position over their last three games. Matthew Stafford maybe battling the interception bug of late, but he will continue to heavily target Megatron, who continues to pile up amazing numbers this season.
Point Projection: 17 points
2. Greg Jennings (Green Bay Packers) @ New York Giants
Putting his poor Week 11 performance aside (two receptions for six yards), Jennings caught five passes for 74 yards and a touchdown against the Detroit Lions in Week 12. It was Jennings eighth touchdown of the season, which ranks fourth amongst receivers this season. The New York Giants have surrendered 22.4 fantasy points to the wide receiver position this season. Aaron Rodgers maybe spreading the ball more now than he was earlier in the season, but Jennings continues to play at a high level and keeps putting together respectable stat lines.
Point Projection: 16 points
3. Mike Wallace (Pittsburgh Steelers) vs. Cincinnati
Okay you’re allowed to have one clunker. Wallace surprisingly caught only two passes for 17 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 12. The Kansas City Chiefs played excellent defense holding the Pittsburgh Steelers to only 13 points and didn’t really allow any big plays. Wallace, who caught six passes for 54 yards and rushed for 31 yards against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 10, has a solid shot of a bounce back performance, considering he has scored at least eight fantasy points in seven games this season. It also helps that the Cincinnati Bengals pass defense has really struggled since Leon Hall went down. Wallace is a rock solid WR1 this week.
Point Projection: 16 points
4. Wes Welker (New England Patriots) vs. Indianapolis
Welker caught eight passes for 115 yards and scored two touchdowns against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 12. It was Welker’s sixth 100 plus yard receiving game of the season and his second in five games. The Indianapolis Colts have allowed the third most fantasy points to the wide receiver position this season (24.2). Welker, who was productive in one game against the Indianapolis Colts last season (five receptions, 58 yards and a touchdown) has a nice chance to have his second big game in a row this week.
Point Projection: 15 points
5. A.J. Green (Cincinnati Bengals) @ Pittsburgh
Returning from a knee injury that sidelined him in Week 11, Green caught three passes for 110 yards against the Cleveland Browns in Week 12. Green didn’t appear like his knee was bothering him at all, playing well against one of leagues better cornerbacks (Joe Haden). The last time Green faced the Pittsburgh Steelers he was forced out of the game with a knee injury. However, he was able to score a touchdown before leaving. The Pittsburgh Steelers have a terrific pass defense holding opposing wide receivers to an average of the third least fantasy points (13.7) this season. However, there haven’t been many defensive backs that have been able to hold Green down this season. Green has earned the right to be trusted by fantasy owners, even in the grimmest of matchup. Start Green without fear this week.
Point Projection: 15 points
6. Steve Smith (Carolina Panthers) @ Tampa Bay
Smith didn’t have the spectacular game expected last week, but he was productive against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 12, catching three passes for 68 yards. Smith has another shot at a nice game against a Tampa Bay Buccaneers team’ that has surrendered 417 yards and four touchdowns over their last three games to the wide receiver position. However, Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ stellar cornerback, Aquib Talib, will likely shadow Smith this week, which will probably make Smith’s afternoon difficult. Smith has played at a high level virtually this whole season so a productive game is still a likely possibility.
Point Projection: 15 points
7. Roddy White (Atlanta Falcons) @ Houston
It took a while, but it appears the Roddy White of last season has returned. White caught 10 passes for 120 yards and scored his fourth touchdown of the season in Week 12 against the Minnesota Vikings. It was the second game in a row White received double digit targets and had over 100 yards receiving. White’s third straight 100 yard performance is going to be hard to come by going against a solid Houston Texans’ pass defense with Julio Jones likely playing more than he did last week. However, White and Matt Ryan are clearly more in sync now then they were earlier in the season and it wouldn’t be wise to bench a stud like Roddy for any reason this week.
Point Projection: 14 points
8. Andre Johnson (Houston Texans) vs. Atlanta
A.J. owners just can’t catch a break. The Houston Texans’ superstar wide receiver was targeted only three times and caught just two passes for 22 yards against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 12. It’s uncertain how Johnson will fair with rookie, T.J. Yates at quarterback, but it’s fair to assume that he will not be as productive as he was early in the season. However, The Atlanta Falcons have allowed the tenth most fantasy points to the wide receiver position this season (21.9), so Johnson has a shot at a productive game. Expect Johnson to bounce back this week and definitely see more than three targets.
Point Projection: 14 points

9. Victor Cruz (New York Giants) vs. Green Bay Packers
The Cruz missile continues to penetrate through secondary’s. Cruz caught nine passes for 157 yards and scored two touchdowns against the New Orleans Saints in Week 12. He’s making a great case for fantasy MVP, especially if he continues to play at this high a level throughout the fantasy playoffs. Cruz has a solid chance of having another strong game against a Green Bay Packers’ team that has allowed 612 receiving yards and six touchdowns to the wide receiver position over their last four games. Cruz needs to be in fantasy owners lineups this week.
Point Projection: 14 points
10. Vincent Jackson (San Diego Chargers) @ Jacksonville
At least VJAX doesn’t have to see Champ Bailey the rest of the season. Jackson had two receptions for 25 yards against the Denver Broncos in Week 12. He was only targeted three times, while Vincent Brown and Antonio Gates were each targeted 10 times. Jackson will likely bounce back this week against the Jacksonville Jaguars, considering that he has been alternating good and bad games basically the whole season. He is a big gamble, but he when Jackson’s right he pours on the fantasy points.
Point Projection: 14 points

11. Larry Fitzgerald (Arizona Cardinals) vs. Dallas
Fitzgerald caught five passes for 55 yards against the St. Louis Rams in Week 12. He received nine targets, but John Skelton’s accuracy issues killed a terrific matchup for Fitzgerald. The last time Fitzgerald faced the Dallas Cowboys he only had one reception for 26 yards. However, Kevin Kolb maybe returning this week, which could only help Fitzgerald’s overall receiving numbers. The Dallas Cowboys have only allowed 18.6 fantasy points per game to the receiver position this season, but Fitzgerald has the talent to continue to be a force in any game.
Point Projection: 13 points
12. Hakeem Nicks (New York Giants) vs. Green Bay
Tied for the team lead in targets (12) with Victor Cruz, Nicks had seven receptions for 87 yards against the New Orleans Saints on Monday night. Nicks was close to breaking off a couple of big plays, but was forced out and stepped out of bounds on each play. Nicks has another excellent matchup this week against a Green Bay Packers’ team that has allowed the fourth most fantasy points to the wide receiver position this season (24.0). Sooner or later Nicks is probably going to go off this season. This could be the week, especially if the New York Giants are forced to play catch up again
Point Projection: 13 points
13. Brandon Lloyd (St. Louis Rams) @ San Francisco
The Gateway to the West continues to be kind to Lloyd, who had five receptions for 74 yards and a touchdown against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 12. Lloyd has received double digit targets in five of his six games and has scored four touchdowns in a St. Louis Rams uniform. The San Francisco 49ers have a solid pass defense, but Lloyd has been productive against solid pass defenses before this season (Cleveland, Dallas etc..) and is playing at a high level right now. Make sure Lloyd is in your lineup this week.
Point Projection: 13 points
14. Marques Colston (New Orleans Saints) vs. Detroit
Continuing his streak of delivering solid production, Colston caught three passes for 78 yards against the New York Giants in Week 12. Colston, who is averaging 4.5 catches and 66.7 yards per game this season, is looking like a solid start against a Detroit Lions’ team that has allowed 483 receiving yards and three touchdowns to the wide receiver position over the last three games. Drew Brees continues to spreads the ball around, but Colston should see enough meaningful targets to make an impact this week.
Point Projection: 13 points
15. Jordy Nelson (Green Bay Packers) @ New York Giants
Nelson’s fantasy point binge ended in Detroit in Week 12. He caught only four passes for 26 yards, but on the bright side was tied for the team lead in targets (5). Nelson has a nice shot at bouncing back against a New York Giants’ squad that has allowed 11 touchdowns to the wide receiver position this season and was recently torched by the New Orleans Saints and Philadelphia Eagles wide receiving cores (389 yards and four touchdowns combined). Make sure Nelson is in your lineup this week.
Point Projection: 13 points
16. Laurent Robinson (Dallas Cowboys) @ Arizona
Miles Austin who? Robinson continued his tear, hauling in seven receptions for 79 yards and scoring two touchdowns against the Miami Dolphins in Week 12. It was a terrific Turkey Day for Robinson, who has scored seven touchdowns over the Dallas Cowboys last five games. Robinson’s fantasy value hinges on Miles Austin’s health this week. If Austin doesn’t play, Robinson has a great shot of being productive against an Arizona Cardinals’ team that has allowed eight touchdowns to the wide receiver position and the third most receptions of 20 plus yard receptions this season (46). Fantasy owners should always play the hot hand and there isn’t a hotter hand than Robinson’s right now.
Point Projection: 13 points
17. Dez Bryant (Dallas Cowboys) @ Arizona
The Man Child was contained in Week 12, catching only three passes for 35 yards against the Miami Dolphins. Defenses are keying in on stopping Bryant, as evidenced by the fact that this was the second week in a row he was out targeted by Laurent Robinson (six to 12). The Arizona Cardinals have allowed 21.4 fantasy points to the wide receiver position this season. Bet on a bounce back game for Bryant this week.
Point Projection: 12 points
18. Percy Harvin (Minnesota Vikings) vs. Denver
He isn’t giving his fantasy owners migranes of late. Harvin caught five passes for 95 yards and scored a touchdown against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 12. He also added five carries for 11 yards. Harvin has had a nice run over his last two games and the good times may continue against a Denver Broncos’ team that has allowed the sixth most fantasy points (22.0) to the wide receiver position this season. Harvin, who will continue to play a larger role in the Minnesota Vikings offense with Adrian Peterson absent, is a solid WR2 this week.
Point Projection: 12 points
19. Brandon Marshall (Miami Dolphins) vs. Oakland
Bouncing back from a poor Week 11, Marshall caught five passes for 103 yards and scored a touchdown against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 12. Marshall made an impressive touchdown catch, that was well defended by Terrence Newman to ensure his monster game. The Oakland Raiders have been hemmoraging fantasy points to the wide receiver position of late, allowing an average of 21 fantasy points over their last three games. Make sure Marshall is in your lineup this week.
Point Projection: 11 points
20. Steve Johnson (Buffalo Bills) vs. Tennessee
Look who shot himself in the foot now! Johnson was having a terrific game despite being shadowed by Darrelle Revis, but contributed to costing his team the game after his excessive, dispiccable touchdown celebration was flagged for a 15 yard penalty. Despite the disappointing outcome it was Johnson’s most productive game in three weeks and he has an opportunity to be continue his stellar play against a Tennessee Titans’ team that has allowed 425 yards and a touchdown to the wide receiver position over the last three games. Johnson is a soli
Point Projection: 10 points

21. Antonio Brown (Pittsburgh Steelers) vs. Cincinnati
Even though the Kansas City Chiefs were playing tough, Brown still had nice game, catching four passes for 81 yards in Week 12. Brown continues to impress scoring no less than eight fantasy points in each of the Pittsburgh Steelers last five games. There’s no reason to expect a let down for Brown this week against a Cincinnati Bengals’ team, he had five receptions for 86 yards against in Week 10. The Cincinnati Bengals have also allowed 10 touchdowns to the wide receiver position this season. What can Brown do for you? More than you imagined this season I’m sure.
Point Projection: 10 points
22. Santonio Holmes (New York Jets) @ Washington
Holmes caught two passes for 22 yards and scored his fifth touchdown of the season against the Buffalo Bills in Week 12. The New York Jets have made an effort to get Holmes more involved in the offense in recent weeks, and Holmes has been productive scoring nine fantasy points or more in three out of the last four New York Jets games. The Washington Redskins have allowed the sixth most 20 yard plus yard receptions this season (42). Holmes is a risky play, but he has been producing more than not recently.
Point Projection: 10 points
23. Anquan Boldin (Baltimore Ravens) @ Cleveland
In a game dominated by the Baltimore Ravens defense, Boldin caught four passes for 63 yards Week 12 against the San Francisco 49ers. Boldin had a terrific first quarter, but the San Francisco 49ers quickly took him out of the game after that. He did end up leading the Baltimore Ravens receivers in targets however, (nine). This week isn’t looking great for Boldin, who is going against a Cleveland Browns’ squad who has allowed the least fantasy points to the wide receiver position this season (12.2). It also doesn’t help Boldin’s chances for fantasy success that he likely has a date with Cleveland Browns’ shutdown corner Joe Haden. Boldin, who only has seven receptions over his last three games, may have a productive game, but a stellar one seems out of reach.
Point Projection: 8 points
24. Mike Williams (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) vs. Carolina Panthers
He’s back! Tampa Bay Mike had his second outstanding game in a row; this time against the Tennessee Titans, catching six passes for 84 yards and a touchdown. Williams has 13 catches for 167 yards and has scored two touchdowns over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ last two games. Williams may have a shot at three productive games in a row against the Carolina Panthers, who have allowed 527 yards and four touchdowns to the wide receiver position over their last three games. Williams, who was solid in two games against the Carolina Panthers last season (six receptions, 122 yards and a touchdown) is a good-looking WR3 this week.
Point Projection: 8 points
25. Plaxico Burress (New York Jets) @ Washington
Continuing his stretch of solid production, Burress caught four receptions for 54 yards and scored his seventh touchdown of the season against the Buffalo Bills in Week 12. Burress leads the New York Jets receiving core in receptions (34), receiving yards (479) and touchdowns (7) this season and is looking like a decent play against the Washington Redskins this week. In need of a WR3? Burress, who has been on a role lately, isn’t a bad choice this week.
Point Projection: 8 points
