::RANKINGS UPDATED AS OF DECEMBER 4, 2011::

Week 12 was a scoring bonanza for fantasy kickers, as all but five had at least six fantasy points. Eleven kickers were in double digits, led by Oakland’s Sebastian Janikowski, who had 23 points due to his six field goals, four of which were from beyond 40 yards. That helped vault Janikowski to sixth at the position in fantasy scoring, just 10 points behind leader David Akers. This week should breed similar results, with high-scoring affairs likely in several places.

Let’s take a look at how this week will shape up in our Fantasy Football Week 13 Kicker Rankings.

Standard Scoring

17-39 Yard Field Goal: 3 points |  40-49 Yard Field Goal: 4 points
50-plus Yard Field Goal: 5 points |  Extra Point: 1 point

1. John Kasay (New Orleans Saints) vs. Detroit

Kasay didn’t make any field goals last week against the Giants, but then again, he didn’t have to, because New Orleans simply scored touchdowns at will. He was still an asset to his fantasy owners, however, due to his seven extra points. This week, Kasay plays a Lions squad that is tied for most fantasy points allowed to opposing kickers.
Point Projection: 15 points

2. Mason Crosby (Green Bay Packers) @ New York Giants

As you may expect, Crosby is number one in the league in extra points made kicking behind the NFL’s top-scoring offense. He is sixth at his position in fantasy scoring, and has at least nine points in four of his last five games. The Giants gave up points to the Saints last week people give out Halloween candy to trick-or-treaters, and the Packers are primed to do much of the same this week.
Point Projection: 14 points

3. Sebastian Janikowski (Oakland Raiders) @ Miami

Janikowski’s 23 fantasy points on six field goals and one extra point last week against the Bears led his position, and it was his second game of the season with at least 20 points. He wasn’t just hitting chip shots either, as he supplemented his 19-yard field goal with boots from 37, 40, 42, 44 and 47 yards. He has made a league-high 13 field goals from 40 or more yards, and that huge leg makes him a constant threat to stand atop the league in fantasy points at his position.
Point Projection: 13 points

4. David Akers (San Francisco 49ers) vs. St. Louis

Akers made field goals from 45 and 52 yards on Thanksgiving night to account for all of San Francisco’s points in their loss to Baltimore. He leads all kickers in fantasy scoring, field goals made and field goals attempted, and won’t be hindered in the least by playing a terrible Rams team this weekend.
Point Projection: 13 points

5. Stephen Gostkowski (New England Patriots) vs. Indianapolis

Gostkowski is now third in the NFL in PATs made after kicking five of them in the Patriots’ 38-20 win over the Eagles last week. His 19 field goals are tied for 11th in the NFL, and he’s in store for a big day against the worst team in the league – only four teams have allowed more fantasy points to kickers than Indianapolis has.
Point Projection: 11 points

6.  Jason Hanson (Detroit Lions) @ New Orleans

Hanson was one of the unfortunate five not to register at least six fantasy points last week. In fact, he was the only kicker in the league who didn’t have even a single point, as he failed to convert a field goal and had just one PAT on Thanksgiving. Things should be different in New Orleans this week, as a shootout is likely and points should be abundant.
Point Projection: 11 points

7. Dan Bailey (Dallas Cowboys) @ Arizona

Bailey kicked a game-winning field goal with no time remaining on Thanksgiving to beat the Dolphins, and it was the second week in succession that one of his kicks ended a contest. He is number two at his position in fantasy scoring, number two in field goals made and first in field goal percentage. Adding to those accolades is the fact that he faces the Cardinals this week, and they are tied for sixth in the league in fantasy points given up to kickers this year.
Point Projection: 11 points

8. Robbie Gould (Chicago Bears) vs. Kansas City

Gould converted both of his field goals last week against the Raiders, both of which were at least 50 yards out. He is now third among the league’s kickers in fantasy scoring, is fourth in field goals made, and has hit multiple field goals in eight of his team’s 11 games this year.
Point Projection: 11 points

9. Billy Cundiff (Baltimore Ravens) @ Cleveland

Cundiff is third in the NFL in field goals made, second in field goals attempted and tied for 11th in extra points converted. And though he’s had double-digit fantasy points in more than half of his games this season, Cundiff is only seventh in fantasy scoring because he’s just 1-for-6 in kicks from 50 or more yards.
Point Projection: 10 points

10. Connor Barth (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) vs. Carolina

Barth’s 43-yard field goal last week was his only one of the game in Tampa’s loss to the Titans. He’s been a bit up-and-down this season, but hasn’t missed a field goal since Week 6 and has a good match-up with a Panthers team that is tied for ninth in the NFL in fantasy points allowed to opposing kickers.
Point Projection: 10 points

11. Matt Bryant (Atlanta Falcons) @ Houston

Bryant is third in the NFL in field goal percentage, having nailed 19 of his 20 kicks. He’s also 10th in the NFL in extra points made, and is an overall solid fantasy kicker who isn’t likely to hurt his fantasy owners, but probably won’t give them a huge day any time soon, as more half of his field goals are from inside 30 yards.
Point Projection: 9 points

12. Neil Rackers (Houston Texans) vs. Atlanta

It’s difficult not to be somewhat skeptical of Rackers, due mostly to the fact that he’ll be kicking behind an offense led by T.J. Yates. He’s also been a bit inconsistent, having made less than two field goals in four of his last eight games, which has led to some pedestrian fantasy numbers. But he still has plenty of leg and has made all three of his field goals from 50+ yards, so don’t discount him just yet.
Point Projection: 8 points

13. Mike Nugent (Cincinnati Bengals) @ Pittsburgh

Nugent is second in the league in field goal percentage at 95.5, having made 21 of the 22 field goals he’s attempted this season. What’s hampered him somewhat is the fact that he hasn’t even attempted a kick from 50 yards and as a byproduct, large point fantasy point totals are non-existent – he hasn’t had a day with more than 12 points yet this season.
Point Projection: 8 points

14. Nick Folk (New York Jets) @ Washington

Folk made four extra points last week, but didn’t make or even attempt a field goal, leading to a sub-par afternoon. Over his last three games, he’s failed to make a field goal twice, and he’s only 26th in the league in field goals made. But he is seventh in extra points and faces the Redskins this week, and only two teams in the NFL have given up more fantasy points to kickers than they have.
Point Projection: 8 points

15. Nick Novak (San Diego Chargers) @ Jacksonville

Novak missed two kicks last week, including one from 53 yards in overtime that would have won the game for San Diego. He has been a fairly reliable fantasy kicker this season, but is facing a Jaguars team this week that is fifth in the league in scoring defense and has allowed the fewest fantasy points in the NFL to opposing kickers.
Point Projection: 7 points

16. Rob Bironas (Tennessee Titans) @ Buffalo

Bironas nailed three of his four field goal tries last week for the Titans, registering 12 fantasy points in the process. It was the third time in his last five games that he had double-digit fantasy points, a feat that he accomplished just once in the season’s first seven weeks. So even though he’s been solid of late, he does face a Bills team that has given up the sixth-fewest fantasy points in the league to kickers, and Bironas is just 21st in the NFL in field goals made.
Point Projection: 7 points
