::RANKINGS UPDATED AS OF NOVEMBER 26, 2011::

If you came away victorious this week in your fantasy league, it wasn’t due to anybody at the kicker position. Scoring was low across the board, as only two kickers registered double-digit fantasy points, with three putting up just a single point, and 12 kickers amassing five or fewer fantasy points. There have been better days for kickers, and it would be surprising if there weren’t far more points scored this week. Thanksgiving Day should see plenty of points, as five of the top seven kickers in fantasy scoring are in action, with four being in the top-10 of our rankings.

Especially intriguing should be the first match-up of the day, where our top-two fantasy kickers for the week in Mason Crosby and Jason Hanson square off. Let’s dive into it and see how the rest of our Fantasy Football Week 12 Kicker Rankings shake out.

Standard Scoring

17-39 Yard Field Goal: 3 points |  40-49 Yard Field Goal: 4 points
50-plus Yard Field Goal: 5 points |  Extra Point: 1 point

1. Mason Crosby (Green Bay Packers) @ Detroit    **THANKSGIVING DAY FOOTBALL**

Crosby leads the NFL in extra points made with 43, which is nine more than second-place man Jason Hanson, and has made at least five PATs in each of his last three games. He inexplicably missed a 29-yard field goal last week, hitting the upright, though it’s hard to get too down on him since it was the first kick of any kind that he failed to convert this year.
Point Projection: 13 points

2.  Jason Hanson (Detroit Lions) vs. Green Bay    **THANKSGIVING DAY FOOTBALL**

As we mentioned above, Hanson is second in the league in PATs made, and is also sixth in field goals made. He did not make or even attempt a field goal last week, and it was the first time this season that he failed to do either. Still, he came away with seven fantasy points on seven extra points, and has only missed one field goal this season, leading to a conversion rate of 95 percent that is second in the NFL.
Point Projection: 12 points

3. Dan Bailey (Dallas Cowboys) vs. Miami    **THANKSGIVING DAY FOOTBALL**

Bailey’s game-winning field goal last week against the Redskins helped the rookie maintain a tie with David Akers in fantasy scoring at their position, but this week they are in first place after being in second last week. Bailey is second in the NFL in field goals made and first in field goal percentage (96.2), so yeah, he’s a mighty good option pretty much every week.
Point Projection: 12 points

4. John Kasay (New Orleans Saints) vs. New York Giants

Kasay lost his spot at number one in fantasy scoring at the kicker position after being on a bye last week, but is still tied for third in the NFL in field goals made. He kicks behind a New Orleans offense that is second in the league in points per game, and as such is pretty much assured to bring you plenty of fantasy points every week.
Point Projection: 12 points

5. Sebastian Janikowski (Oakland Raiders) vs. Chicago

Janikowski seems to be over his previous injury, and should be back to being an elite fantasy option at the kicker position. Even though he missed a game due to that injury, he’s still 10th at his position in fantasy scoring, and his five field goals from 50 yards or longer is tied for second in the league.
Point Projection: 11 points

6. Mike Nugent (Cincinnati Bengals) vs. Cleveland

Nugent is tied for third in the league in field goal percentage, having hit 94.7 percent of his attempts. He doesn’t have fewer than six fantasy points in any game this season, and faces a Browns team this week that he amassed 10 fantasy points against way back in Week 1.
Point Projection: 11 points

7. Neil Rackers (Houston Texans) @ Jacksonville

Rackers and the Texans were off last week, but he’s still fifth in the NFL in extra points made and tied for sixth in field goals made. How the Houston offense will operate without quarterback Matt Schaub and with Matt Leinart is a mystery at this point, but with Arian Foster and a healthy Andre Johnson in the lineup, Rackers should still have plenty of opportunities to register fantasy points for his owners.
Point Projection: 10 points

8. David Akers (San Francisco 49ers) @ Baltimore    **THANKSGIVING DAY FOOTBALL**

Akers is tied with Dan Bailey for the top spot in fantasy scoring among kickers, and leads everyone in field goals made this season. But we foresee him losing ground to Bailey after this week, due in large part to the fact that it doesn’t seem like the 49ers and Ravens will be a high-scoring affair, considering they are first and third, respectively, in scoring defense this year.
Point Projection:9 points

9. Stephen Gostkowski (New England Patriots) @ Philadelphia

Gostkowski was second in the league in fantasy points last week with 10 by virtue of two field goals and four extra points. His 33 extra points this season are tied for the third-most in football, and is currently eighth at his position in fantasy scoring. Gostkowski has attempted at least two field goals in six straight games, and has just one game this season with fewer than seven fantasy points.
Point Projection: 9 points

10. Matt Bryant (Atlanta Falcons) vs. Minnesota

Bryant led all kickers last week with 11 fantasy points, and faces a Vikings team this week that has allowed the most fantasy points in the league to opposing kickers, and could be without running back Adrian Peterson, which should allow the Falcons offense to be on the field more often than usual. Bryant isn’t an elite option many weeks, but he’s a consistent one that, at worst, won’t hurt your fantasy team.
Point Projection: 9 points

11. Nick Novak (San Diego Chargers) vs. Denver

Novak is facing a Denver team this week that has allowed the fourth-most fantasy points in the NFL to opposing kickers. He is tied for sixth in the league with 19 field goals made, and has had a surprisingly good season for fantasy owners. Despite the thinking that San Diego’s offense has struggled, they are tied for 12th in the league in points, and Novak is a good option most weeks, including this one.
Point Projection: 9 points

12. Robbie Gould (Chicago Bears) @ Oakland

Gould, who made his only field goal try last week from 42 yards, is now tied for third at his position in fantasy scoring, and has kicked at least three extra points in each of his past five games. Though Jay Cutler is out, the team will still rely heavily on Matt Forte, and Gould’s accuracy (91.3 percent – seventh in the league) is a boon to fantasy owners.
Point Projection: 8 points

13. Olindo Mare (Carolina Panthers) @ Indianapolis

Mare hit both of his field goal tries last week and also made three extra points, leaving him tied for third with nine fantasy points last week. He plays a Colts team this week that is tied for fifth in fantasy points allowed to kickers this season, and as such should have plenty of opportunities to make some noise for his fantasy owners come Sunday.
Point Projection: 8 points

14. Billy Cundiff (Baltimore Ravens) vs. San Francisco    **THANKSGIVING DAY FOOTBALL**

Cundiff is tied for third in the league in field goals made, but has missed six of his 28 attempts for a percentage of 78.6 that is tied for 25th in the NFL. He’s seventh at the kicker position in fantasy scoring, but should probably be first because he’s just one for six in kicks from at least 50 yards. Had he made three more of those, he would be tied for first in scoring.
Point Projection: 8 points

15. Connor Barth (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) @ Tennessee

Barth has not missed a field goal since Week 6, and is now tied for sixth in the NFL in field goals made. He’s missed just two kicks all season, with each coming from beyond 40 yards. But Tampa’s offense has sputtered this season, and is only 25th in the league in scoring, so Barth’s opportunity for PATs and easy fantasy points hinders his value.
Point Projection: 7 points

16. Nick Folk (New York Jets) vs. Buffalo

Folk is only 23rd in the league in field goals made, and has nailed just two of his last five attempts, including two misses last week in Denver, though to be fair one of those kicks was a 61-yard attempt at the end of the first half. He’s had six games with six or fewer fantasy points this season, but we think he’ll barely get over that mark this week against a Buffalo team that is struggling badly.
Point Projection: 7 points
