Todd Heap, TE, Baltimore Ravens – Heap is another prime example of a guy whose name causes him to be overvalued. The fact of the matter is that Heap is now entering his tenth year in the NFL, and without back-to-back two-touchdown performances in Week 15 and 16, Heap’s 2009 season is below average. His two previous seasons were also very disappointing, and with the Ravens drafting rookie tight end’s Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta, it seems the Heap era is all but done with in Baltimore.
Dickson is another one of those young tight ends blessed with the build and the skills to become a big downfield threat. Pitta is of the same mold, only has better hands and is a bit of an older rookie at 25. Heap’s injury concerns still can’t be declared a thing of the past either. Heap missed ten games in 2004 and 2007, so don’t be surprised if injury strikes again at some point during the 2010 season. The bottom line is that with these two rookies mixed in with Heap, the tight end situation in Baltimore is one to avoid on at your fantasy football draft.
