Darren McFadden, RB, Oakland Raiders – McFadden has battled injuries through two NFL seasons, and he averaged just 3.4 yards per carry and scored just one touchdown in 2009. He seems ill-suited for every-down duty, but the presence of the incompetent JaMarcus Russell under center for Oakland certainly hurt him as well. The arrival of Jason Campbell this offseason should bring a more effective passing game for the Raiders, which should help open up the running game.
McFadden has battled a hamstring issue this preseason, which has opened the door for Michael Bush to earn a more significant role in the Raiders’ backfield. At the very least Bush should get the goal line carries, which keeps McFadden’s fantasy football potential down. McFadden’s fantasy value is slightly better in PPR leagues, as reflected by his No.35 ranking on our PPR cheat sheet as opposed to No.38 on our standard fantasy football cheat sheet, but don’t overpay for the hype and recognizable name on draft day.
