Arizona Cardinals running back Beanie Wells was limited in practice Friday for the third day in a row with a groin pull. He is listed as questionable on the team’s injury report for Sunday’s Week 17 game against the Green Bay Packers. Although his injury is not likely serious, the Cardinals are expected to rest a number of their starters including Wells, depending on the outcome of the Vikings-Giants game. Coach Ken Whisenhunt said that the team would only give their starters significant playing time if there were a legitimate shot at being the Number 2 seed in the NFC. Given the stinginess of Green Bay’s league-low rushing defense, none of Arizona’s other running backs – Tim Hightower, Jason Wright, or LaRod Stephens-Howlings – are particularly attractive fantasy options this weekend.

Bruno Boys Take: With the Cardinals heading to the playoffs and regardless of the outcome of the Vikings-Giants game, we think the Cardinals might opt to rest Wells to ensure he’s 100 percent ready for the post-season. This is bad news for fantasy owners who have benefited from the red-hot Wells in recent weeks and could use his production in their quest for a championship in Week 17. If Wells is active and you opt to start him, we recommend that you use him as a flex option only. We should know the official status on Wells by 3:00 p.m. ET Sunday and will post an update on the Web site.
