QUARTERBACK - DUDS
Mark Sanchez (New York Jets) – It was the first loss for the rookie sensation, and it was an ugly, ugly game. Sanchez was on the run all day long from the Saints’ defense and he made his fair share of bad decisions. For the game Sanchez was just 14/27 for 138 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions. He also ran four times for 24 yards, but he lost a fumble to boot. The Jets QB was looked upon for 12 fantasy football points, but was very disappointing with a negative one.
Hallam’s Take: I told you even during the good times that there were going to be bumps in the road for Sanchez and that he wasn’t a good fantasy quarterback. He seems to really have what it takes to be a successful quarterback in this league, but he is no more than a bye week replacement as far as fantasy football is concerned. Don’t believe the hype and go trading the guy you drafted to be your starter in favor of Sanchez. He will have his share of good fantasy games, but the Jets’ offense revolves around the run, and Sanchez will be among the 15-20 best QBs in the game.

QUARTERBACK - STUDS
David Garrard (Jacksonville Jaguars) – Garrard was the quarterback of the day as he had his second very strong game of the season. He had a great line, as he was 27 of 37 for 323 yards and three touchdowns. Garrard also rushed the ball eight times for 38 yards, although he did fumble once. I can’t say that I disagreed with the prediction of ten fantasy points as he was going against what we thought was a solid Tennessee defense, but he blew that out of the water with 25 fantasy points.
Hallam’s Take: I have never been a fan of Garrard, and even after this game, I am still not a fan. The Jaguars are just not a team that focuses on the pass, although perhaps they have just needed a reliable option in the receiving game all this time. It seems that Garrard has found a couple of guys he likes (most notably, Mike Sims-Walker) so this is the first time I have ever considered him as a decent player, but I DEFINITELY would not want him to be my every week starter.

QUARTERBACK - DUDS
Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints) – Even the best have an off game every once in a while. Brees was unable to perform his usual magic against the Bills on Sunday as he was just 16 for 29 for 172 yards without a touchdown or an interception. He did, however, turn the ball over on a fumble, which cost his owners two more points. Brees deserved his lofty 25 point projection, but he put up just four. It won’t happen often, but Brees was the ultimate dud in Week 3.
Hallam’s Take: No big deal here. Brees is awesome, he is still the number one fantasy quarterback. The guy can’t throw for three touchdowns EVERY week. It is unfortunate that he didn’t get in the end zone, but he carried your team the first two weeks, hopefully someone else picked up the slack for you this time around.

QUARTERBACK - STUDS
Mark Sanchez (New York Jets) – In his third win in as many games for the Jets, Sanchez finally had a game for fantasy owners to get excited about. Against the suddenly vulnerable Tennessee Titans defense, Sanchez was 17/30 for 171 yards with 2 passing touchdowns and an interception. Sanchez also ran four times for ten yards and another score. He was projected for another ho hum ten point fantasy football day, but came up with a big 17 points.

QUARTERBACK - DUDS
Tom Brady (New England Patriots) – It was another disappointing game for Brady and the Pats and this one didn’t end in a fumbled kickoff and last minute comeback. The New England offense sputtered again and failed to reach the end zone. Brady failed to complete even 50% of his passes and threw for just 216 yards. He also threw an interception and scored just six fantasy points, a far cry from the 20 he was projected for.

QUARTERBACK - STUDS
Matt Schaub (Houston Texans) – Houston and Tennessee in a shootout? Who saw that coming? Well, Schaub brought a gun to that shootout and was masterful. He racked up 357 yards and four touchdown passes. Based on his weak Week 1, Schaub was ranked with the assumption he would score just 11 points, but he was the high point scorer for quarterbacks with 30 points.
Hallam’s Take: I still don’t fully trust Schaub, but that is mostly because of his injury history. When he is in there, Schaub is fully capable of having games like this. It was really unexpected against a fine defense like Tennessee, so those of you Schaub owners who were going for the bridge after last week, take a breath as you are back into the game.

QUARTERBACK - DUDS
Kurt Warner (Arizona Cardinals) – Upset on their home field on the day they raised their NFC Championship banner, Warner and the Arizona passing game rarely looked in sync. Warner had a lot of pressure on him, and didn’t look comfortable and his accuracy struggled. He was projected to score 19 fantasy football points, but his performance of 288 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions only netted him 11 points.

QUARTERBACK - STUDS
Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints) – It isn’t often that the number one rated guy turns up on the “Studs” list, but Brees blew past everyone’s expectations to start the season with a mammoth game. He threw for 358 yards and six touchdowns in a big win against the Detroit Lions. Brees’ 36 points were not only the most by a quarterback, but well past the 25 he was projected for.
Hallam’s Take: Brees picks up right where he left off which shouldn’t be a surprise to many of you. Now, he obviously won’t do this again, and it was against the lowly Lions, but you can expect impressive performances nearly every week for Brees. If he isn’t the number one rated QB at the end of the season, he will be in the top three.
