Now, onto the Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Week 6 Running Back  rankings.

1. Cedric Benson (Cincinnati Bengals) vs. Houston

If Benson’s status as a must start wasn’t official yet, it is now as he went for 120 yards and a touchdown against the Baltimore Ravens, one of the best rush defenses in the game. Benson has definitely resurrected his career in Cincinnati, so much so that he ranks first this week in the Bruno Boys rankings as he faces the Houston Texans, a rush defense that allows a ton of yardage (140.8 yards per game) as well as touchdowns (9 on the year). Benson is a great play this week.

Week 5 is here, and leagues are starting to take shape as some teams are starting to pull away from the pack, while other squads have made themselves comfortable occupying the role of cellar dweller. Odds are, that part of the reason for this separation of power is due to the play of those teams’ running backs.

With four weeks officially in the books, It is more important than ever that you pay attention to the Bruno Boys weekly rankings as there is no longer any room for stumbling. As always, we are here to get you the win. Let’s get that going by jumping into the Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Week 5 Running Back Rankings.

1. Adrian Peterson (Minnesota Vikings) @ St. Louis

Adrian Peterson has started off 2009 the same way he finished 2008, on a high. Last Monday was no different as he once again scored a solid 9 fantasy points, which by the way is his low for the season. This week, the best running back in fantasy football clashes against the Rams’ and their 24th ranked rush defense. It isn’t hard to see the writing on the wall; Peterson will have another dominating week. Just hope that you have him on your roster, and if that’s not the case, hope that your opponent doesn’t have him, as a very good week is in the making.
Point Projection: 22 points

2. Maurice Jones-Drew (Jacksonville Jaguars) @ Seattle

Just when it looked like Maurice Jones-Drew was about to become the back everyone thought he would be prior to the season thanks to a 31 point effort in week 3, things took a big hit last week. Although, he did have 9 fantasy points, the majority of the points came via a touchdown. Without the score, he is sitting at a mere three point effort. But, not to worry, this cat is a gamer; no pun intended. Look for Jones-Drew to get back on track this week against a Seattle Seahawks defense that ranks in the lower third of the league. If you have him on your team, Jones-Drew is a must play.

It is Week 4 of the fantasy football season and leagues are starting to take shape. While there are teams that are 3-0 and others that are 0-3 you have to remember that it is still early enough to where you shouldn’t hit the panic button. And for those that are 2-1 or 1-2 odds are your records could be flip flopped quite easily. So don’t give up, keep hitting the Bruno Boys website and FORUM hard and don’t forget to nail the LIVE Q and A’s that we hold throughout the week.

This week we have quite a few key running backs taking a break as it is the first bye-week; the Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers and Philadelphia Eagles will all be kicking back. One thing is for sure though, and that is the Bruno Boys won’t be. As always we will be hitting it hard so we can bring you yet another victory to stash on the shelves towards your quest of a championship title. Let’s jump right into the Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Week 4 Running Back Rankings.

1. Adrian Peterson (Minnesota Vikings) vs. Green Bay

Adrian Peterson has been one of the best running backs all year and was expected to excel last week against the San Francisco 49ers. While he wasn’t stunning, he still put up 99 total yards. This was a game that the Minnesota Vikings let the ball fly. In Week 4 Peterson once again leads the way as he faces division rival Green Bay Packers. In his career, Peterson has averaged well over 100 yards per game and has also tossed in a few touchdowns against the Packers. Expect some more domination from Peterson who leads all running backs in fantasy football points through September.

Last week we experienced plenty of highs (i.e. Chris Johnson’s mammoth 45 point outing) and lows (i.e. Joseph Addai’s mere 3 points on Monday Night) that left us all talking around the water cooler. What will Week 3 have in store for the running back position? The Bruno Boys have a pretty good idea and we are looking to share, that way the Bruno Boys Nation can dominate yet another week in fantasy football. So, let’s jump right in to the Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Week 3 Running Back Rankings.

1. Adrian Peterson (Minnesota Vikings) vs. San Francisco

After going for 198 yards and 3 touchdowns against the Cleveland Browns, Adrian Peterson went for 116 all-purpose yards and another visit to pay dirt against the Detroit Lions. This week he faces his toughest test yet in the 3rd ranked rush defense of the San Francisco 49ers, a team that he struggled against in his first meeting, accumulating only 3 yards. However, Peterson is running like a man on a mission with fantasy performances of 37 and 15 points on the year. In Week 3, we are certain that you will see what you have seen so far in 2009, Peterson domination, which is why, despite the tough match-up, he rates as the best running back to play this week.

While it seemed to take forever for the season to kickoff, Week 1 seemed like it came and went in a blink of an eye. And talking about the blink of an eye, that can be said about a few different things this week. Like the Cleveland Browns defense not being able to see Adrian Peterson throughout the game en route to him going off for 180 yards and 3 touchdowns. Also, a potential change of roles in San Diego as LaDainian Tomlinson (ankle injury or not) was stuck watching from the sidelines as Darren Sproles torched the Oakland Raiders with the game on the line.

There will be many other stories that unfold during Week 2, but as usual in attempt to get you prepared for your crucial fantasy football match-up we bring to you the Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Week 2 Running Back Rankings.

Key Abbreviations: YPC (Yards Per Carry), YPG (Yards Per Game)

1. Adrian Peterson (Minnesota Vikings) @ Detroit

What a way to start out 2009 by going off for 198 yards and 3 touchdowns against Cleveland Browns. Peterson owners have to be licking their chops as now he gets to face the Detroit Lions rush defense which is every bit as bad as the Browns. Peterson has averaged more than a 100 yards per contest against the Lions and has a pair of touchdowns in 4 career games. There is no doubt that he will once again have a successful week, making him our running back play for Week 2.

“For, lo, the winter is past. The rain is over and gone; The flowers appear on the earth; The time of the singing of birds is come, And the voice of the turtle is heard in our land.” While this is a poem that the legendary baseball broadcaster of the Detroit Tigers, Ernie Harwell used to describe spring’s arrival and, with it, the game of baseball, in a sense it fits for the arrival of Week 1 of the NFL season as well. After all, the first kick off of the NFL season is the sport’s spring as hope springs eternal at that moment. With that, I’d like to dedicate this little paragraph to Mr. Harwell who was recently diagnosed with incurable cancer. Mr. Harwell, I would like to thank you for all of the late nights of great baseball announcing you’ve done and for being one of the inspirations in as I pursue my dream to write about sports. You are in my prayers, and I dedicate the work I do this season to you.

Speaking of prayers, your opponents will not have one against you, Bruno Boys Nation, as you have the Bruno Boys on your side. As I was saying, Week 1 is upon us and with that brings something that has been long anticipated for months now; the start of the fantasy football season. I (Bruno Boys Ziza) will have the pleasure of once again bringing you the running back weekly rankings. While I don’t want to take credit away from the other positions, there is no position in my mind that is more important in your pursuit of a playoff berth and ultimately the main goal; a championship ring. I give you my word that I will dedicate myself to making sure that every single one of you has a successful season. With that being said, let’s jump into the Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Week 1 Running Back Rankings.

In fantasy football keeper leagues, age and durability are important factors to consider when adding running backs to your roster. When choosing between similar players, it can often be advantageous to go with the younger back for a longer period of production or a player with proven durability to churn out consistent fantasy football numbers each season. That being said, pure talent and play making can sometimes outshine both of these factors. With that in mind, I (Bruno Boys Dominic) provide you (Bruno Boys Nation) with my Top-30 Keeper League RBs.

1.  Adrian Peterson (MIN) – Age 24

There’s not much to think about here in my opinion. When healthy, he’s the most dynamic back on the field. And off the field, he remains 100% dedicated to the game. He’s only 24 and runs behind one of the league’s top offensive lines. A genuine stud for the next 6-7 years.

2. Maurice Jones Drew (JAC) – Age 24

His size may cause some concern since he’s being asked to carry the load in Jacksonville for the first time. However, last season he proved that even behind a suspect O-line he can produce 14 tds. Moving forward I expect the same TD production with many more yards to come.

Ladainian Tomlinson’s reign as the top fantasy football running back has come to an end, but, don’t worry, there are plenty of running backs chomping at the bit to take over the throne. For starters, there’s last year’s top point getter, DeAngelo Williams, who has not one but rather 272 reasons as to why he’s worthy to be No.1; alas, one big reason counters those 272 and his name is Jonathan Stewart. Then, there’s Michael Turner, LT’s former back-up in San Diego, who dominated in his first season as a starter, racking up 1,699 rush yards and 17 TDs as a member of the Atlanta Falcons, but the 377 carries he totaled in 2008 are a cause for concern. So, who is No.1? None other than Mr. Adrian Peterson. Yes,  the Bruno Boys would take “All Day” Peterson all day with the 1st overall selection in 2009 fantasy football drafts! ::RANKINGS UPDATED AS OF AUGUST 15, 2009::

TIER 1

1. Adrian Peterson – Minnesota Vikings (Bye: 9)

Heading into 2009, Adrian Peterson finds himself justifiably atop of the Bruno Boys running back rankings as he produced 233 fantasy points, trailing only DeAngelo Williams and Michael Turner in 2008. The sick thing is that this Minnesota Viking is looking to improve on all aspects of his game, including his ball carrying; a category that definitely hurt his fantasy football value some last year as he had 9 fumbles. He did reach double digit touchdowns with 10 and had a total of 1,885 all-purpose yards.
