2009 Fantasy Football Draft Sheet
2009 Fantasy Football Draft Sheet

Normal fantasy football leagues have come to an end and what a great season it was. We hope that you did well in your league, or leagues, but if you’re still looking for some fantasy football action while the playoffs go on, and you’re looking for some help then look no further because the Bruno Boys will be here throughout the postseason. As such we’ll be releasing our normal weekly position rankings to help you best decide which players to go with in our Fantasy Football Playoff Challenge. To see where this round’s running backs rank continue reading the Championship Round edition of the Bruno Boys Weekly Running Back Rankings.

1. Adrian Peterson (Minnesota Vikings) @ New Orleans

Despite the fact that Adrian Peterson lost six fumbles during the regular season, he will once again be a consensus top-three pick in 2010 fantasy football drafts. With his combination of power and speed he is one of the best running backs in the NFL and he will continue to be an elite fantasy option next season. Not only do we expect another great year from Peterson in 2010, we also believe he is the best running back left in the playoffs and he will likely be the top fantasy producer for this weeks playoff contest. In the NFC Championship game he will face a New Orleans Saints that allowed 101 rushing yards and two touchdowns last week to the Arizona Cardinals. In a game that should be a shootout, look for Vikings to try and use Peterson to establish the running game in order to keep the Saints high-powered offense grounded.

1. Ray Rice (Baltimore Ravens) @ Indianapolis

When you consider that the New England Patriots had given up just six rushing touchdowns all season it was amazing to see Ray Rice start the game with an 83-yard touchdown run on the very first play from scrimmage. It was also quite stunning to see the Patriots give up four rushing touchdowns on the game. Rice finished the game with 22 carries for 159 yards and two touchdowns. He was very good to owners in the Bruno Boys Playoff Challenge last week and that should continue this week when he faces an Indianapolis defense that ranked No. 24 against the rush during the regular season.

1. Ray Rice (Baltimore Ravens) @ New England

What an amazing sophomore season Ray Rice had! While other second year running backs like Steve Slaton and Kevin Smith had disappointing seasons from a fantasy football standpoint, Rice propelled into one of the best running backs in the NFL and an elite fantasy option. He finished the 2009 season with 2,041 total yards from scrimmage and eight touchdowns. He may not have started the season as a RB1, but he finished as one and will likely be a top-ten pick in fantasy drafts next year. Rice will have a tough match-up on the road against one of the most playoff tested teams in the past ten years with a match-up against the New England Patriots, but he should have another excellent performance. In a Week 4 meeting with the Patriots, he had 11 carries for 103 yards and five receptions for 49 yards. Look for a similar outing from Rice this week, as he looks to help extend the Ravens season for another week.

1. Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers) @ Arizona

Two of the league’s better offenses met last week when the Green Bay Packers defeated the Arizona Cardinals, and it was Aaron Rodgers (Kurt Warner played sparingly) who won the quarterback duel. In a win over the Arizona Cardinals, Rodgers threw for 235 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions, and he also had a rushing touchdown. Things tend to be a little tighter in the playoffs but playing in a dome is a boon to both quarterbacks. The good thing for Rodgers this week is that the Cardinals are nursing a number of injuries to defensive players, which is why we like for Rodgers to have a similar performance this week as he did last week.

Welcome to Week 17 of the NFL season, which tends to be the toughest week of the fantasy football season to predict. This is the week of the regular season that will play out like a preseason game in many cities this week. Teams that are eliminated from the playoffs will start to play backup players so that they can see what they have for the future. Teams that have already clinched their playoff positioning will rest players to keep them fresh for a run at a Super Bowl title.

So if you are in a fantasy league that plays into Week 17 it is as important as ever to make sure you are well informed when making your lineup decisions this week. As such, it’s time for the final edition of the regular season version of the Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Week 17 Running Back Rankings. Good luck to all that are playing meaningful fantasy football games this week.

1. Chris Johnson (Tennessee Titans) @ Seattle

If there is one running back that you can count on to play hard and get his normal number of reps, it’s Chris Johnson this week. The Titans are officially eliminated from playoff contention and the only thing Tennessee has left to play for this season is to try and get Johnson over 2,000 rushing yards for the season. With 142 rushing yards and another touchdown in a loss to the San Diego Chargers on Christmas, he is 128 rushing yards shy of 2,000. Week 16 marked his 10th straight game with more than 100 yards rushing and he has scored 10 rushing touchdowns over that span. Johnson has been an elite fantasy running back this season and that should continue to roll with a milestone on the line.

Congratulations to all of you who are still playing meaningful fantasy football games in Week 16 of the NFL season. You are either in your fantasy football championship game or deep into your league’s playoffs. It remains extremely important to put together the best possible lineup, a task that gets more difficult as the season continues to progress as there seems to be more injuries to deal with each and every passing week, especially at the running back position.

So, as you put together what just might be your most important fantasy football lineup of the season, please enjoy the Bruno Boy Fantasy Football Week 16 Running Back Rankings. Good luck to all of you as you continue to strive for the ultimate fantasy football glory.

1. Frank Gore (San Francisco 49ers) vs. Detroit

During many fantasy drafts this past summer, those owners who drafted Frank Gore were eying this Week 16 match-up with the Detroit Lions. Detroit heads into the game allowing more than 127 rushing yards per game, while giving up 16 rushing touchdowns this season. In two career games against the Lions, Gore is averaging 144.5 yards per game with two touchdowns. In the 49ers Week 15 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, he had 16 carries for 107 yards and three catches for 19 yards, numbers he should greatly improve upon against Detroit.

The deeper you get into a NFL season the more injuries seem to cause havoc for fantasy football owners and that is surely the case this season, especially at the running back position. Fantasy owners have been dealing with injuries to running backs all season, whether it’s to primary or secondary running backs on your roster, injuries are making it difficult to field a solid starting fantasy lineup. We have lost Miami’s Ronnie Brown, Washington’s Clinton Portis, Houston’s Steve Slaton and now Detroit’s Kevin Smith to injured reserve this season. Not to mention the many other running backs who are dealing with injuries that are causing them to miss significant playing time.

Between all the injuries and some tough match-ups for starting running backs, you will notice a big shakeup in the Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Week 15 Running Back Rankings. Good luck to all of you in this very important Week 15 match-up.

1. Chris Johnson (Tennessee Titans) vs. Miami

In a Week 14 victory over the St. Louis Rams, Chris Johnson had another outstanding game. He had 28 carries for 117 yards with two touchdowns and added three catches for 69 yards, including a 66-yard touchdown. It was his eighth straight game of more then 110 yards rushing and it was his second three touchdown performance this year. Johnson has been nothing short of amazing this season and he has been an outstanding source of fantasy football points. Continue to use him as an elite No. 1 fantasy running back this week as the Titans take on the Miami Dolphins.

Making the playoffs is just the first step in the Bruno Boys’ divine plans to make all of you champions. Now that the playoffs are upon us, it continues to get tougher and tougher each week. One mistake can literally cost you your season at this point.

Every position in fantasy football is important, but there may not be a more important position than running back. So, as you ponder your starting lineup for what is very likely a playoff match-up, please enjoy the Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Week 14 Running Back Rankings. Good luck to all of you in this playoff season. We here at Bruno Boys Fantasy Football hope each and every one of you achieves the ultimate fantasy football success this season.

1. Chris Johnson (Tennessee Titans) vs. St. Louis

In a Week 13 loss to the undefeated Indianapolis Colts, Chris Johnson rushed for more than 110 yards for the seventh straight game. He has been the best running back in the NFL this season, as made evident by his league leading 1,509 rushing yards through 12 games. He has a legitimate shot at a 2,000 yard rushing season, and he should be in consideration for the NFL MVP award. Johnson has a great match-up this week against a St. Louis Rams’ rush defense that is allowing more than 145 rushing yards per game and has allowed 17 rushing touchdowns on the season. He is an elite fantasy running back and should once again be used as a No. 1 fantasy option this week.

Well folks this is it. This is what we have all been waiting for. We are entering the most crucial week of the fantasy football season. In most leagues Week 13 signifies the last week of the regular season in fantasy football and we are either fighting just to get into the playoffs or working to solidify our playoff positions. So it is more important than ever not to make any mistakes with your fantasy football lineup this week, you do not want to miss the playoffs or end up in a lesser playoff position because you were unprepared.

Week in and week out, the running back position remains one of, if not the most important position on your fantasy team. Whether it has to do with injuries or performance, the landscape of the running backs has changed quite a bit since we started preparing for fantasy drafts back in the summer. So as you get your lineup in order for this very important fantasy football week, trust the Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Week 13 Running Back Rankings to keep you informed of any changes that may have occurred at this crucial fantasy position.

1. Maurice Jones-Drew (Jacksonville Jaguars) vs. Houston

In Week 12, Maurice Jones-Drew had 15 carries for 75 yards and added five receptions for 35 yards, but did not score a touchdown for the first time in five games. With 1,277 total yards and 13 touchdowns he has been one of the best running backs in the NFL this season, but his rushing totals have been inconsistent at times, as he has just four games with over 100 rushing yards. A match-up with the Houston Texans should be exactly what fantasy owners are looking for. Jones-Drew had 23 carries for 119 yards with three touchdowns against the Texans in Week 3. He should be used as a high-end RB1 this week against a Houston defense that has allowed 14 rushing touchdowns this season.

As we head into Week 12 of NFL action, we are, yet again, one week closer to the fantasy football playoffs. Starting back in the summer when we put together our draft strategies, rankings and cheat sheets, this is what all our hard work was for - a chance to make the playoffs and fight for a fantasy football championship. So, with just two weeks left in the regular season in most leagues, it is definitely not the time to start slacking. We must continue to work hard and make sure that we are making the right decisions at each and every position on our fantasy roster.

There have been a lot of injuries at the running back position over the past couple of weeks, which has made evaluating this very important position even more difficult than normal. So, as you filter through all the injuries and look for the best match-ups that will help you to a very important victory this week, the Bruno Boys are here as always with the Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Week 12 Running Back Rankings.

1. Ricky Williams (Miami Dolphins) @ Buffalo

Starting in place of the injured Ronnie Brown who is out for the season, Ricky Williams had his best game in years in a Week 11 victory over the Carolina Panthers. He had 22 carries for 119 yards with two touchdowns and added two catches for 19 yards with another touchdown. He is having career resurgence this year with 889 total yards and 10 total touchdowns in 10 games. Williams has a great match-up in Week 12 and should be used as a high-end RB1 when the Dolphins face a Buffalo Bills defense that is not very good against the run. The Bills are allowing more than 165 rushing yards per game and have given up 15 rushing touchdowns this season.
