It’s amazing how fast it comes and goes. What seemed like yesterday was the start of pre-season football and now here we are preparing for Week 3 of the NFL season. After two weeks of action it’s quite simple, you are either 2-0, 1-1, 0-2 or in some rare circumstances you have mixed in a Tie. Regardless of your record it’s time to prepare yourself for fantasy football battle in Week 3. Knowing that many fantasy owners’ are on the fence about which RB2, WR3 or Flex to start we approach this article as a way to talk about some of your question marks. With that in mind, check out the Week 3 edition of Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Roundtable.
WEEK 3 BURNING QUESTIONS
1. After two weeks of the NFL regular season in the books what do you feel has been the biggest surprise in the world of fantasy football?
Bruno Boys Whooley: I’m going to go with Mario Manningham of the New York Giants here. Heading into the season, we knew one of the young wide receivers for the Giants would step up and produce with both Plaxico Burress and Amani Toomer gone, but Manningham’s name was never really a part of the discussion. Rather, fantasy owners waged their bets on the likes of Domenik Hixon and Hakeem Nicks. Through two weeks, Manningham has 32 fantasy points compared to a combined total of 3 for Hixon and Nicks.

As long as it took for Week 1 of the NFL season to get here, it seems the week between Week 1 and Week 2 is taking even longer as fantasy owners are antsy to see if their week 1 win or loss was a fluke or if their team is really as good or bad as the squad that showed up in their fantasy football opener. Don’t worry, though, we’re almost to the Week 2 kick off. Until then, occupy yourself with the Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Roundtable, in which we touch on many of the hot issues of the day.
WEEK 2 BURNING QUESTIONS
1. What was the biggest fantasy surprise from Week 1?
Bruno Boys Cavigs: No doubt about it Cadillac Williams was the biggest fantasy surprise of Week 1. Just three weeks ago it was supposed to be a RBBC between Derrick Ward and Cadillac Williams and now Graham looks to be out of the picture while Williams surges. His 13 carries for 97 rushing yards and 1 TD in the season opener was impressive but what intrigued me the most was his explosiveness when touching the football. He had runs of 11, 14 and 35 yards and was able to make defenders miss with some shifty running. I don’t project Williams to be a 10+ fantasy points per week option but he is worthy of a roster spot and can play his way into a weekly option if he continues to produce at this level.
Bruno Boys Ziza: Marc, ok I do give Cadillac Williams some props as it is always nice to see a good guy who has had bad luck come back and dominate, but it isn’t as if he had come out of nowhere. When given starter reps you better produce as a starter; which he did. The surprise for me was the top overall pick in most leagues, Adrian Peterson. It isn’t a shock that he had a great game. What is shocking is how easy he made nearly 200 all-purpose yards and 3 touchdowns look against the Cleveland Browns. With the Detroit Lions on deck, look for another outstanding performance from this young kid. It really does look as if the addition of a solid quarterback in Brett Favre along with a young speedster like Percy Harvin is what was needed to launch Peterson into fantasy football superstardom.

I’m sure our readers are just as antsy for the weekend to begin as the Bruno Boys are, so that Sunday can arrive and with it a new NFL season, so I’m not going to keep them waiting. Let’s get right to the Week 1 edition of the Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Roundtable.
WEEK 1 BURNING QUESTIONS
1. As we head into week one of the fantasy football season, what do you think is the biggest mistake owners make in regards to their week 1 line-ups?
Bruno Boys Jimbo: The biggest mistake I think that fantasy football owners make to their Week 1 line-ups is over thinking and sitting their studs for some duds based on match-ups! Yes, taking the advice of experts such as us, the Bruno Boys, is definitely something they want to do, but when it comes down to it, they drafted their studs for a reason! Play them!
Bruno Boys Whooley: Damn you, Jimbo! First question of the roundtable and you already take one of my answers, but yes, I totally agree with you. Over thinking and over analyzing week 1 match-ups is a huge problem. You drafted certain guys higher than others because they’re the better player, play them. With that being said, I’ll throw another mistake owners make. Just because your draft is over, doesn’t mean you can stop paying attention prior to week one. Injuries happen, cuts happen, depth chart movements happen. Make sure you pay attention so that you’re filling in a complete line-up.

It’s already July, the hot dogs and burgers are hitting the grill and you can hear the joys of summer all through the streets. That can only mean one thing, fantasy football is right around the corner. While we are enjoying our summer here as well, the Bruno Boys have still been very hard at work as we have launched the first part of our new website as well as the 2009 Bruno Boys Cheat Sheet Online Magazine. In the middle of that mix we found Bruno Boys Cavigs and Bruno Boys Ziza having a conversation about the AFC East.
AFC East Burning Questions
1. With the trade of Matt Cassel, the New England Patriots have all but admitted that Tom Brady is ready to rock and roll. What do you see from him in 2009?
