The NFL is an ever changing landscape, from year to year, week to week, and even day to day. Hence, the Bruno Boys bring to you our Week 9 Edition of the Fantasy Risers and Fallers. For those of you unfamiliar with the concept behind the article, it’s rather simple. Risers and Fallers highlights those players who have seen their fantasy football value for the weekend’s upcoming games either rise (increase) or fall (decrease).
WEEK 9 RISERS
QB Jake Delhomme (Carolina Panthers) - The good news is that Delhomme is probable and expected to play in Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints. The bad news is that Delhomme has a penchant for turning the ball over, something the Saints will easily exploit. Even though he’s a go for the Panthers, he shouldn’t be a go for your fantasy team despite the slight rise in his value heading into Sunday.
QB Matthew Stafford (Detroit Lions) - Returning from injury in week 8, Stafford didn’t experience any set backs with his knee and, sporting a probable listing, will be on the field once again this Sunday for Detroit. However, while he will be under center for Detroit, he shouldn’t be your fantasy team’s QB.
QB Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers) - Rodgers has indeed played his way into a must start fantasy option, which is why his owners’ may have been in a bit of a panic mode earlier in the week when a toe injury and foot sprain kept the QB out of his team’s practices. However, alleviating his owners’ fears that he might miss week 9, Rodgers returned to practice on Friday. He will be in the line-up on Sunday and should light up the Bucs’ secondary.
QB Matt Hasselbeck (Seattle Seahawks) - Hasselbeck may still be dealing with a rib injury, but the QB has toughed it out so far and will continue to do so this Sunday against the Detroit Lions. The match-up makes Hasselbeck a low-end QB1 option.

Risers and Fallers highlights those players who have seen their fantasy football value for the weekend’s upcoming games either rise (increase) or fall (decrease).
WEEK 8 RISERS
QB Joe Flacco (Baltimore Ravens) – Listed as probable with an ankle injury, Flacco is set to start for the Baltimore Ravens in their match-up against the Denver Broncos. That’s the good news. The bad news is that Denver has done an excellent job limiting fantasy quarterbacks this season. In fact, in their last two games, the Broncos held Tom Brady to just 14 points and Philip Rivers to just 12.
QB Matthew Stafford (Detroit Lions) – While officially a game-time decision, Stafford completed a full week’s worth of practice this past week and is expected to reclaim his starting job from Daunte Culpepper. Even with a nice match-up against the Rams, we’d still only utilize Stafford as an emergency option.
QB Brett Favre (Minnesota Vikings) – Favre does appear on the Minnesota Vikings’ injury report with a probable listing due to a hip injury. However, with week 8 marking his return to Lambeau, it’s going to take more than a sore hip to keep Favre off the field.

WEEK 7 RISERS
QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Buffalo Bills) - With Trent Edwards out with a concussion, Fitzpatrick will assume the starting duties for the Buffalo Bills this weekend against the Carolina Panthers. However, just because Fitzpatrick is making his first start for Buffalo does not mean he should be making his first fantasy start for any owner this week.
QB Matthew Stafford (Detroit Lions) - Yes, the Lions are not playing in week 7, but Stafford makes this list as the Lions’ QB, once thought to be another casualty to surgery, was throwing the pig skin around in practice and moving well. He could be back under center as early as week 8.
QB Eli Manning (New York Giants) - Manning didn’t experience any set backs in regards to his heel last week, which means he’ll be a go against the Arizona Cardinals this weekend. The match-up against the Cardinals’ 31st ranked pass defense should allow Manning to post a nice bounce back week, following his 178 yard, 1 TD, and 2 TO day against the Saints.

Risers and Fallers highlights those players who have seen their fantasy football value for the weekend’s upcoming games either rise (increase) or fall (decrease).
WEEK 6 RISERS
QB Carson Palmer (Cincinnati Bengals) - It’s never good to hear a quarterback has a thumb injury, but in Palmer’s case, it shouldn’t cause his owners to lose any sleep. First off, Palmer’s injury is on his non-throwing hand. Secondly, he’s practiced all week.
QB Eli Manning (New York Giants) - Sure, Manning didn’t partake in all 60 minutes of the Giants’ week 5 contest with the Raiders, but that’s because he didn’t need to. The Giants’ QB, despite his heel issues, is listed as probable for Sunday’s match-up with the Saints, and you know, this game will be a lot closer. Look for Manning to play the full game here.

Risers and Fallers highlights those players who have seen their fantasy football value for the weekend’s upcoming games either rise (increase) or fall (decrease).
WEEK 5 RISERS
Kurt Warner (Arizona Cardinals) - Warner has been bothered by a sore shoulder but he had two weeks to rest for his Week 5 showdown against the Houston Texans. The veteran Warner is off to a mediocre start but expect him to bounce back this week against a Texans defense that allows 23 points per game.
Daunte Culepper (Detroit Lions) - Just because Culpepper is expected to get the start tomorrow against the Pittsburgh Steelers it doesn’t mean you should start him. However, you beat the Steelers through the air and Culpepper still has a big time arm and a good playmaker in Calvin Johnson down the field. Still, the cons outweight the pros so it’s best to keep the veteran QB on your leagues waiver wire.
Cedric Benson (Cincinnati Bengals) - No doubt about it Benson has a tough match-up against the Baltimore Ravens top ranked rushing defense and we suggest you use another option if available, but we wanted to let our readers know that he practiced in full on Thursday and Friday and his hip is healthy enough to see a full workload against the Ravens.
Marshawn Lynch (Buffalo Bills) - He still will be splitting playing time with Fred Jackson but expect Lynch to score his first touchdown of the 2009 season and go over double-digit fantasy points for his owners. After all, the Browns allow over 170 rushing yards per game and have let opponents score 8 TDs on the ground in four games. Start Lynch as a RB2 or Flex play this week.
Jerious Norwood (Atlanta Falcons) - The backup running back sustained a concussion in Week 2 against the Carolina Panthers but is ready to go after recovering the past three weeks. It is still yet to be determined just how much head coach Mike Smith will use Norwood, but with the 49ers giving up the most receiving yards in the NFL against opposing RBs it makes him a sneaky play in a deep leagues.
Jamal Lewis (Cleveland Browns) - The aging veteran who has missed two games because of a hamstring injury was able to handle a full workload during Friday’s practice and should see some action in Week 5 against the Buffalo Bills. Jerome Harrison has replaced Lewis in the Browns backfield and added a much needed rushing/receiving threat to an offense that is in dire need of play-makers. Still, if Lewis does indeed suit up you can expect him to see 10-15 touches in this football game and his big body could propel him into being a goal-line specialist, similar to what LeRon McClain did in 2008.

For those of you unfamiliar with the concept behind the article, it’s rather simple. Risers and Fallers highlights those players who have seen their fantasy football value for the weekend’s upcoming games either rise (increase) or fall (decrease).
WEEK 4 RISERS
QB Kyle Orton (Denver Broncos) - Helping to lead the Denver Broncos to a 3-0 start, Orton has not yet thrown an interception and has posted double digit fantasy points in each of the first three games of the season; however, while he’s been consistent, it’s been consistent mediocrity. That could change as Orton’s dislocated finger on his throwing hand continues to improve, leading the QB to take off the glove he’s been using since the initial injury. Orton is a guy to watch as he is definitely more than capable of being a solid bye week replacement play week in and week out.
QB Brett Favre (Minnsota Vikings) - While a limited participant in practice on Friday, we want to ensure you that Favre will play on Monday Night. Do you really think he’d miss this match-up with his old team? Favre’s limited participation has more to do with rest than injury. Don’t forget, this is a man who has retired twice.
QB Seneca Wallace (Seattle Seahawks) - Matt Hasselbeck is currently sporting the doubtful tag, meaning it will be Wallace, who once again starts for the Seahawks this weekend. Wallace is one of the better back-up QBs in the NFL and did have 12 fantasy points in week 3 against the Bears, but we still don’t recommend using him even with the injuries the Colts’ defense is dealing with.
QB Kyle Boller (St. Louis Rams) - Boller will start Sunday in place of injured starter, Marc Bulger. Boller did breathe some life into the Rams against the Green Bay Packers, but with a week to prepare for him, look for the San Francisco 49ers to shut him down in week 4, once again putting the Rams on life support.

For those of you unfamiliar with the concept behind the article, it’s rather simple. Risers and Fallers highlights those players who have seen their fantasy football value for the weekend’s upcoming games either rise (increase) or fall (decrease).
WEEK 3 RISERS
QB Matt Cassel (Kansas City Chiefs) - Cassel, who looked good in his return game in week 2, did not experience any set backs with regards to his knee during the week and is set to go against the Philadelphia Eagles. Nevertheless, there are much better options this week than Cassel, so if you can try and avoid starting the Chiefs’ quarterback.
QB Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints) - The shoulder injury that has Brees listed as probable is on his non-throwing arm, meaning his fantasy owners should have no worries about using him against the 31st ranked pass defense of the Buffalo Bills.
QB Mark Sanchez (New York Jets) - Sanchez, who is listed as probable due to tendinitis in his knee, seems certain to go this weekend as the Jets take on the Tennessee Titans. So far, Sanchez has looked very similar to Matt Ryan in 2008. He’s worthy of dropping into your line-up if you’re dealing with injuries at the QB position.

WEEK 2 RISERS
QB Tony Romo (Dallas Cowboys) - After torching the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for 353 passing yards and 3 TDs, Romo appeared on the injury report with an high ankle sprain. The injury looks to be fully recovered and Romo had no problem practicing throughout the week. The match-up against a tough New York Giants defense will be a challenge but Romo has produced well against the Giants in his career, having passed for 264 yards per game and 12 TD passes in just five games. His stats won’t be as easy to come by this week but his fantasy football owners should expect in the 16-17 point range from their QB1.

WEEK 1 RISERS
WR Steve Breaston (Arizona Cardinals) - Hamstring issues have left Anquan Boldin as iffy for Sunday’s match-up with the San Francisco 49ers. If Boldin can’t go, it’s Breaston, who is probable for the game, that moves into the No. 2 receiver slot for the Cardinals, a spot he occupied quite nicely in 2008.
WR Mark Clayton (Baltimore Ravens) - Despite a strained left hamstring, Clayton was not listed on Baltimore’s injury report this week and is fully expected to suit up and be on the field against the Chiefs on Sunday. Clayton, who is still the team’s No. 2 wide receiver thanks to Derrick Mason’s unretirement, should only be used in deep, deep leagues.
RB Jonathan Stewart (Carolina Panthers) - Stewart participated in all of the Panthers’ practices this week and does not appear on the injury report, despite missing time in the preseason due to an achilles’ injury. While his value has risen, owners may still want to play it cautious here as Stewart faces a tough match-up against the Eagles and will likely see his workload reduced upon his return from injury.
