Here we are, game week! The pinnacle of the football season is coming, as the Super Bowl between the best two teams in all of the NFL will be on everyone’s mind throughout the weekend. This year you couldn’t have picked two better teams, as both the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts were undefeated through most of the regular season and flexed their muscles this postseason.
Two high-powered offenses will take the field on Super Sunday, as both the Colts and Saints are led by the best quarterbacks in all of football (Peyton Manning and Drew Brees). For the defenses, this is an utter nightmare. All season long we have ranked any defense facing Indianapolis or New Orleans as a one or two star defense. Well you have to pick one right? Let’s see if we can figure out who will be the better option for Sunday in our Super Bowl Round edition of the Bruno Boys Weekly Defense Rankings.
As we head into the article, I would like to explain the “Bruno Boys Star System”.

Normal fantasy football leagues have come to an end and what a great season it was. We hope that you did well in your league, or leagues, but if you’re still looking for some fantasy football action while the playoffs go on, and you’re looking for some help then look no further because the Bruno Boys will be here throughout the postseason. As such we’ll be releasing our normal weekly position rankings to help you best decide which players to go with in our Fantasy Football Playoff Challenge. To see where this round’s kickers rank continue reading the Super Bowl Round edition of the Bruno Boys Weekly Kicker Rankings.
1. Matt Stover (Indianapolis Colts) vs. New Orleans
Stover heads to the Super Bowl as the postseason’s most productive kicker. He successfully converted all five field goal attempts during the Colts’ Divisional and Championship round victories and his 21 fantasy football points ranks first among kickers. Although the New Orleans Saints have allowed only one field goal attempt and six extra points throughout the playoffs, Stover should have plenty of opportunities to put up points on Sunday. With Peyton Manning leading the offense, the Colts have scored 50 points over two playoff contests and they should have no problem moving the football against a Saints defense that finished the regular season ranked 25th in total yards allowed.

Normal fantasy football leagues have come to an end and what a great season it was. 1. Dallas Clark (Indianapolis Colts) vs. New Orleans
The New York Jets may have allowed only 3 TD receptions all year long to the tight end position, but Dallas Clark loves a challenge as he proved two weeks ago in the AFC Championship Game. While Clark only hauled in 4 passes for 35 yards in that contest, one of those catches brought him into the end zone, leaving him with a solid 9 point fantasy day. Clark will once again be tested come Super Bowl Sunday as the Saints have given up just one tight end score through 18 games, but we still like him to produce. After all, the tight end did rack up 100 catches for 1,106 yards and 10 TDs on the year.

1. Reggie Wayne (Indianapolis Colts)
Wayne remains the best receiver that will step on the field for the Super Bowl, regardless of his somewhat meek totals from Week 11 on. In the Colts’ nine games since then – including the playoffs – Wayne has just one game with 100 receiving yards, but he’s also scored three touchdowns and has four contests where he’s caught at least five passes.

1. Joseph Addai (Indianapolis Colts) vs. New Orleans
Joseph Addai bounced back from a sub-par 2008 season and finished 2009 with 828 rushing yards and 13 total touchdowns. It looked like there was a possibility he could lose his starting spot in the Colts’ backfield to rookie Donald Brown, but heading into these playoffs he was the team’s clear-cut No. 1 rushing option. As many before him have, Addai struggled in the Divisional round of the playoffs against the Baltimore Ravens. He finished the game with 11 carries for 23 yards. Despite suffering a shoulder injury and leaving the game in the first quarter against the New York Jets in the AFC Championship game, he returned to the lineup in the second quarter and finished with 80 rushing yards on 16 carries. He should be in line for very solid numbers in the Super Bowl against a New Orleans Saints defense that gave up 122 rushing yards and three touchdowns to Adrian Peterson in the NFC Championship game.

Well this it. We’re finally here as the final week of the NFL season will commence Sunday with the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts playing in Super Bowl XLIV, and it would be hard to ask for a better matchup. Not only do we have two elite teams with good offenses and defenses, more specifically we have two of the game’s elite quarterbacks, Peyton Manning for Indianapolis and Drew Brees for New Orleans, battling it out against each other.
So, most fantasy football leagues are done and most playoff challenge leagues forced you to lock in your Super Bowl picks during the conference championship round but that’s not going to stop us from releasing our weekly rankings. Why, you may ask? Well, we get a kick out of breaking down matchups and analyzing potential fantasy value for any regular or postseason game. Plus, we figure it gives you something fun to read. So let’s not keep you waiting any longer. Here are the Bruno Boys Quarterback Rankings for Super Bowl XLIV.
1. Peyton Manning (Indianapolis Colts) vs. New Orleans
Knowing how good the Saints defense is at intercepting the ball, we still decided to go with Manning as the top dog this week and that’s for a few key reasons. First of all, we’ve seen that the young players who needed to step up this season, guys like wide receivers Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon, have not only done so but have played extremely well in the playoffs and in pressure situations. Manning started to develop a lot of trust in those guys from the moment Anthony Gonzalez went down with injury in Week 1, and that has helped the offense become so reliable this late in the season. Manning trusts those guys and that’s huge considering the Saints know they won’t be able to just shut down Reggie Wayne. Then of course, you also have tight end Dallas Clark, who always seems to make huge plays. The Saints may be able to slow down the Colts at times, but Manning simply has the offense operating at too high of a level for him not to register a good amount of fantasy football points with the Super Bowl on the line.

The NFL is an ever changing landscape, from year to year, week to week, and even day to day. Hence, the Bruno Boys bring to you our Championship Round Edition of the Fantasy Risers and Fallers. For those of you unfamiliar with the concept behind the article, it’s rather simple. Risers and Fallers highlights those players who have seen their fantasy football value for the weekend’s upcoming games either rise (increase) or fall (decrease).
CHAMPIONSHIP RISERS
RBs Pierre Thomas, Reggie Bush, & Mike Bell (New Orleans Saints) - Minnesota Vikings’ DT Kevin Williams was able to practice Friday for the first time all week. His participation, though, was limited, and he is questionable for this weekend’s match-up with the New Orleans Saints. While the other “Brother Williams,” Pat Williams, will still be on the field to slow the Saints’ running game, the absence of Kevin Williams does make things just a tad bit easier for the Saints’ trio of backs.

Early on with eight teams to fill your Fantasy Football Playoff Challenge team, it seemed like the defensive selection may not make a whole lot of difference. Now, that the field has been carved down to four, it’s the defense that may become the factor in you nudging out your friend or favorite Bruno Boys’ writer in this highly competitive league. Consider this - with only four teams left, there is a good chance of you having the same QB/RB/WR combination. That makes the defense all that more important for you to choose the right one.
Hopefully, we can make that choice easier for you. Early on in the playoffs, it has been the AFC defenses who have really shined. Outside of one NFC defense playing well a week, mostly every AFC defense has played average at worst and could be counted out to get your team the extra points you needed to this point. Nothing changes this week, as uncertainty in the NFC match-up, plus the AFC defenses looking like stellar units a week ago tells us you may want to stick to the AFC conference again this weekend.
As we head into the article, I would like to explain the “Bruno Boys Star System”.

1. Ryan Longwell (Minnesota Vikings) @ New Orleans
After scoring 142 fantasy football points in the regular season, Longwell continued his stellar play in the Divisional Round. The Vikings cruised to a 34-3 victory over the Dallas Cowboys and Longwell was busy throughout the day. The 13-year veteran converted on two field goals and four extra points to reward those who used him in the Bruno Boys Playoff Challenge with 10 points. With the Vikings offense clicking on all cylinders, and the NFC Championship Game expected to feature plenty of offense, there is no better play than Longwell. On top of that, it’s always nice to use a experienced kicker in the playoffs and Sunday will be Longwell’s 13th postseason game.

The final four has been decided with the Minnesota Vikings heading to the Superdome to take on the New Orleans Saints on the NFC side, while the Indianapolis Colts will play host to the New York Jets on the AFC side of things. Those match-ups mean two of the games best tight ends, Jason Witten and Antonio Gates, are now booking tee times rather than sitting in a position to help you in your Fantasy Football Playoff Challenges. To see what tight ends are left to help your cause and where they stack up, continue reading the Bruno Boys Championship Round Tight End Rankings.
1. Dallas Clark (Indianapolis Colts) vs. New York Jets
Sure, the New York Jets showcased the best pass defense in the regular season, allowing just 8 passing TDs on the year, and yes, they did hold tight ends under wraps, giving up just 4.3 fantasy points per game. Nonetheless, Clark’s play throughout the season secures his spot here as the No. 1 ranked tight end for this weekend’s games. Posting a hearty 163 points, Clark was second in production only behind the San Francisco 49ers’ Vernon Davis, and he shows no sign of slowing down here in the post-season as he hauled in 7 passes for 59 yards in the Colts’ win over the Ravens. It doesn’t hurt matters that Gates just burnt this Jets’ unit for 8 catches and 93 yards last week. Just as Peyton Manning does week in and week out, look Clark’s way this coming weekend.
