The St. Louis Rams have filed a complaint with the NFL office that accuses the New York Giants of faking injuries in Monday night's game, ESPN.com reported Tuesday night.

The specific incident occurred in the first quarter. The Rams went to a no-huddle offense and drove inside the Giants 10-yard line. At the same time, safety Deon Grant and linebacker Jacquian Williams - both standing in a group of defenders - fell to the turf.

The actions were caught by TV cameras and showed several times on replay. Play-by-play of the game has Grant being injured on the play.

The Rams ended up settling for a field goal, closing the deficit to 7-6 in a game they eventually lost, 28-16.

The Jacksonville Jaguars signed wide receiver Chastin West from Green Bay's practice squad while waiving rookie receiver Jamar Newsome.

West could find himself in the lineup as soon as Sunday's game against Carolina with receivers Jason Hill and Kassim Osgood nursing injuries.

West, an undrafted rookie in 2010, spent that season on the Packers' practice squad. He led the club with eight catches for 153 yards during the 2011 preseason before being cut and again signed to the practice squad.

The undrafted Newsome was held without a catch in Sunday's loss to the New York Jets.

The Denver Broncos added some much-needed depth to their receiving corps by signing free agent Quan Cosby on Tuesday.

Cosby, who has spent the past two seasons with Cincinnati, will also help Denver's return game.

Wide Receiver and kick returner Eddie Royal injured his groin in Sunday's game against the Bengals. Denver was already missing receivers Brandon Lloyd and Demaryius Thomas because of injuries.

The Broncos were forced to line up third-string quarterback Tim Tebow in the slot on some sets Sunday because of their thin roster.

Cosby has six catches for 71 yards in 32 career games. He led the league with 474 punt returns in 2009.

If it seems like NFL teams are scoring at an inflated rate and quarterbacks are putting up gaudy passing numbers, it's because they are.

Through the season's first two weeks, 172 touchdowns have been scored - a record for most in the opening weeks of any previous campaign - for 1,502 combined points.

Quarterbacks are largely responsible for the boom, having netted 15,771 passing yards in that time, also a record through the first two weeks.

New England quarterback Tom Brady leads the NFL with 940 passing yards and seven touchdowns.

Miles Austin of Dallas, Detroit's Calvin Johnson and LeSean McCoy of Philadelphia each are tied tops in total touchdowns with four.

Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon said on Tuesday that he feels that some of the preseason backlash surrounding top overall pick Cam Newton was racially motivated.

“Some of the criticism was racial,” Moon said. “I started to feel the same way I felt back in 1978 coming out of college when guys were saying I was too small and my arm wasn't strong enough. Some of the same type of blind criticism was being laid on Cam.”

Moon serves as an advisor to the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, who was maligned prior to the season for his accuracy and all-too-willingness to run.

Newton has completed 52 of 83 passes for 854 yards with three touchdowns. The 22-year-old also has four interceptions, but that doesn't deter Moon's appreciation of Newton's talents.

“That shows he's fearless and he'll get better at learning the personnel,” Moon said.

“There was some unjust criticism that wasn't warranted. You started hearing that the kid doesn't have a great work ethic, but all of his coaches in college were saying he did. You heard people say he doesn't have leadership abilities. But he won two national championships as a quarterback (at Auburn and Blinn Junior College).”

Newton can become the first quarterback to open a season throwing for 400-plus yards in three consecutive games when the Panthers (0-2) host the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-1).

The Miami Dolphins signed defensive end Igor Olshansky to a one-year contract on Tuesday.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Olshansky was released by the Dallas Cowboys at the final cuts rather than paid $3.34 million to serve as a backup.

The 29-year-old Russian collected 38 tackles in 16 games last season for the Cowboys.

New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin didn't mince words.

“I expect Michael Vick will play and if he can't play, I am sure he will,” Coughlin said on Tuesday, five days ahead of the Giants' game against the Philadelphia Eagles (1-1).

Coughlin reiterated that he wasn't going develop two different game plans - one involving Vick, one without - as New York (1-1) will vie for its second straight win. The Giants cruised to victory over the St. Louis Rams on Monday night.

Vick exited Sunday night's game against the Atlanta Falcons after receiving a concussion.

The elusive quarterback left the game late in the third quarter when he was tackled into his own teammate, snapping his neck back and causing him to bite his tongue. He went to the locker room but returned to the sideline in the fourth quarter.

Vick was replaced by third-stringer Mike Kafka, who completed 7-of-9 passes for 72 yards. His only incompletions were a fourth-down drop by Jeremy Maclin that would have extended a potential go-ahead drive and a “Hail Mary” on the game's final play.

Without Vick, the Eagles surrendered a 10-point lead and lost, 35-31.

The Dallas Cowboys addressed their ailing wide receiver corps on Tuesday by re-signing Laurent Robinson.

With Miles Austin (hamstring) likely sidelined until after the team's bye in Week 5 and Dez Bryant being plagued by a thigh injury, the Cowboys welcomed back Robinson, who was cut last week.

Robinson recorded 89 catches for 1,000 yards and four touchdowns over four seasons with the Atlanta Falcons and St. Louis Rams.

The Cowboys (1-1) released cornerback Bryan McCann to clear a roster spot.

The Buffalo Bills placed wide receiver Roscoe Parrish on injured reserve Tuesday with a left ankle injury.

Parrish was carted off the field off the field during Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders while blocking on teammate Stevie Johnson's 19-yard reception.

The 29-year-old Parrish is no stranger to injuries, who missed the majority of the second half of last season with a broken wrist.

Parrish recorded his lone catch of the season for 16 yards on Sunday for the Bills (2-0), who host the AFC East rival New England Patriots (2-0) this week.

In 77 career games, Parrish has 134 receptions for 1,502 yards and seven touchdowns.

On Tuesday, the Bills promoted wide receiver Naaman Roosevelt from the practice squad.

The Miami Dolphins released veteran running back Larry Johnson - again.

After signing with the club last month, Johnson has been released on two occasions - the latter of which coming on Tuesday.

Johnson was released this time due in part to rookie Daniel Thomas performing well in Miami's loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday. Thomas rushed 18 times and showed signs of being the bellcow of the backfield.

The 31-year-old Johnson has played just 16 games for three different teams over the last two seasons. He had 377 yards on 132 carries for the Kansas City Chiefs and 204 yards on 46 carries for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2009 and five carries for two yards for Washington last season.

In 2005 and 2006, Johnson was one of the game's top running backs, eclipsing 1,700 yards each season for the Chiefs. But he had 752 carries in those two years and may have been overworked.

In his career, Johnson has 6,221 yards and 55 TDs on 1,426 carries. He also has 154 catches for 1,373 yards and six TDs.
