2009 Fantasy Football Draft Sheet
Fleaflicker NFL Fantasy Football

This week marks the unofficial halfway point of the fantasy football regular season, and this late in the season, every game becomes crucial as we continue to tweak our teams for a possible playoff run. The first six weeks of NFL action have been very exciting. The Indianapolis Colts, New Orleans Saints, Minnesota Vikings and Denver Broncos are still undefeated, while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, St. Louis Rams and Tennessee Titans are all still searching for their first victories of the season. As for fantasy football, after six weeks of football, your fantasy league should really be starting to take shape, but whether you are near the top or bottom of your league’s standings, it’s still extremely important to make sure you are putting your best possible lineup together on a weekly basis. Every fantasy football match-up each week has a chance to affect your league’s playoff picture.

As you prepare your lineup for a very important fantasy football match-up this week, the Bruno Boys are once again here to go over some of the news from around the NFL this week and study its potential fantasy football impact. As always we will take a look at some of the injuries around the NFL, a contract extension for a Pro-Bowl quarterback and Cedric Benson’s first game against the team who drafted him.

Even if you haven’t won a game this season you are not out of it yet. You must remain focused and prepare yourself to once again put together the best possible lineup this week.

The Bruno Boys are here to go over this week’s News and Notes from around the NFL and study its possible fantasy football impact. If you keep yourself prepared with the most up-to-date fantasy football information it will help you to remain focused on putting your best lineup forward. Good luck in Week 6, no matter what your record is this is likely a big week in your fantasy football season.

Calvin Johnson misses practice Wednesday & Thursday, questionable for Week 6

Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson missed practice Wednesday and Thursday, resting a sore right knee from a hit that he took in Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He left the game in the first quarter with one reception for two yards, not exactly what fantasy football owners were hoping for.

Losing Johnson would be a big blow for the Lions and fantasy owners alike. He is a huge part of Detroit’s offensive system and is a must-start WR1 for fantasy owners. Before being injured last week Johnson had posted 21 receptions for 323 yards with one touchdown through four games. Keep an eye on whether he practices on Friday or not, usually if a player can’t practice by Friday, they don’t get to play on Sunday. If he is able to play this week, he should be used as a must-start against a Green Bay Packers team that he had success against in two games that season.

Are we really heading into Week 5 of the NFL season or is this the NFL off-season? Of course it’s Week 5, but with the last rookie holdout finally signing his rookie contract and the Cleveland Browns and the New York Jets pulling off a pretty big trade it has the feeling of August, not October. The rookie previously mentioned is obviously San Francisco 49ers’ first round draft pick wide receiver Michael Crabtree and the trade we are referring to has the Cleveland Browns sending wide receiver Braylon Edwards to the New York Jets for two players and two draft picks.

As you prepare your lineup for Week 5 of fantasy football action the Bruno Boys are here to analyze the above news along with some significant NFL injuries and study the potential fantasy football impact of it all.

Cleveland Browns trade Braylon Edwards to the New York Jets

In a rare mid-season NFL trade the Cleveland Browns sent wide receiver Braylon Edwards to the New York Jets for wide receiver Chansi Stuckey, linebacker Jason Trusnik and two undisclosed draft picks. Edwards who had a breakout year in 2007 when he had 80 receptions for 1,289 yards with 16 touchdowns appeared to be the team’s franchise wide receiver, but he has underachieved ever since. Last season, he posted a pedestrian 55 catches for 873 yards with just three touchdowns, which were well below expectations after his Pro-Bowl ‘07 season. This season hasn’t started out any better as he has only managed 13 fantasy points through the first four games of the season. His final undoing in Cleveland may have been the recent news that he allegedly hit a man outside a Cleveland night club, although no charges have been filed at this point.

Everyone knows the old saying “time flies when you are having fun”, well that goes double when you apply it to football. After what seemed like an extremely long NFL off-season, it is already October and the fourth week of NFL action is fast approaching. It has been an exciting season so far, there are seven undefeated teams in the NFL and we have seen some very good individual football performances. There has also been a fair share of players who have not lived up to their potential and unfortunately there have already been a ton of injuries.

Week 4 signifies the first week of NFL bye weeks, making it more important then ever to be well informed when you are setting your fantasy football weekly lineups. So as you prepare your lineup for this weekend’s football action the Bruno Boys are once again here to look at the news around the NFL and analyze the fantasy football impact. With a big rash of injuries during the first three weeks of the season, we will take a quick look at some of the injuries around the NFL.

Tomlinson returns to practice Wednesday & Thursday, listed as probable versus Steelers

After missing the last two games with an ankle injury San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson returned to practice on Wednesday and is officially listed as probable for this week’s game on the road against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Two weeks of NFL action are already in the books and what a start to the season we have had. There are surprise teams like the undefeated New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers. There have been some huge individual fantasy performances from Chris Johnson, Frank Gore, Adrian Peterson, Drew Brees and the Philadelphia Eagles D/ST, among others. Unfortunately, during the first two weeks of football, we have also seen a good number of injuries.

As you start to prepare your Week 3 line-up, the Bruno Boys are once again here to look at the fantasy football impact of some of the news around the NFL. This week we will take a look at a significant number of injuries to some key fantasy football contributors.

Adrian Peterson limited at practice Wednesday, questionable Week 3

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was limited in practice Wednesday with a back injury. He is officially listed as questionable for the Vikings’ home game Week 3 against the San Francisco 49ers.

It has not been reported when the injury occurred, but the fact that he practiced at all on Wednesday leads us to believe the injury is not that serious. Peterson is the NFL’s leading rusher two weeks into the season with 272 yards rushing and four touchdowns. Keep an eye on this situation heading into Sunday’s contest. If he plays (and it appears he will) Peterson is a must-start RB1.

So as you ponder your best potential starting lineup for the upcoming week, the Bruno Boys will take a look at some news around the NFL and study it’s potential fantasy football impact.

Donovan McNabb injures ribs, misses practice Wednesday

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb missed practice Wednesday with fractured ribs, which he injured during the Eagles 38-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers Week 1.  The injury happened on what appeared to be a late hit after McNabb scored on a three-yard run in the third quarter.
