2009 Fantasy Football Draft Sheet
2009 Fantasy Football Draft Sheet
Fleaflicker NFL Fantasy Football

This NFL season has been a lot different as opposed to any other year. Yes, there have been bad teams before, but never like this. This year we have seen a lot of bad teams in the NFL, including the Rams, Chiefs, Raiders, Browns, Buccaneers, and Lions to name a few. That has led to some defensive plays every week you normally wouldn’t think you’d start. Last week is a good example of that, as the Jacksonville Jaguars are terrible on defense, yet they were a popular play against the Rams (which didn’t really work out too well)

On the other hand, there have been a lot of offenses continually putting up points, leading you to stray away from starting the same defense week in week out. The waiver wire on defenses has never been hotter, making the Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Week 7 Defensive Rankings a must read no matter what defense you have.

Week 5 proved to be an average week for defenses. Some units did well, but none were good enough to lead all players in scoring like we have seen in previous weeks. While many talented defenses who were chosen highly in drafts will once again have some favorable match-ups, there are still a few defenses out there that you may want to look to grab this week if you are in need of a spot start. With Week 6 right around the corner, you have come to the right place to see what defense should shine for your fantasy team as the Bruno Boys present the Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Week 6 Defense Rankings.

Defenses have been more valuable then ever this season, as there have been many who put up top scores for all fantasy football players on certain weeks. While it is nice having one defense you don’t have to worry about, this may be the year where playing the waiver wire each week for a defense isn’t a bad thing. That makes the Defense/Special Teams rankings every week more important then ever before. Let’s hope we can once again point you in the right direction and to find out who will be a great plug-n-play simply read the Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Week 5 Defensive Rankings.

Two Weeks down and hopefully you are making the moves necessary to keep you at the top of the standings. Defenses have been tough to predict thus far, with some teams exceeding expectations and others not living up to their potential. While you should stay with your defense if they were a top five unit entering 2009, you could start to look at match-ups against some of the worst offenses in the NFL. With that being said, this weeks rankings will be based on the first 2 weeks of the seasons stats along with continued projections. As we head into the Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Week 3 Defensive Rankings, I would like to explain the “Bruno Boys Star System”.

One week is in the books for the NFL, and we now have something other than projections to base our rankings on. Before heading to the Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Week 2 Defensive Rankings, let’s first acknowledge it is not time to panic after just one week of your fantasy football season. Generally, you draft your defense because you have faith in them for the entire season. You should not drop whoever you own and start playing match ups until you’ve seen a few games and noted things are not looking up. With that being said, this weeks rankings will be based on Week 1 stats along with continued projections. As we head into the article, I would like to explain the “Bruno Boys Star System”.

The NFL is back!  The time has come once again to analyze match-ups on a week to week basis to take advantage of any solid plays for Week 1. With this being the start of the year, we do not have stats to really rely on (you really can’t use 2008 stats because defenses change year over year), so we will predict the best defensive plays for Week 1 based on match-ups. Here are the Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Week 1 Defense Rankings but before we head into the article, let’s explain the “Bruno Boys Star System”.

The saying goes that “Defense wins championships,” while the Pittsburgh Steelers demonstrated this to be true in the NFL, the same doesn’t always hold true for fantasy football. However, while a defense may not lead you to the promised land in fantasy football, having a solid squad that you can plug in week after week makes the journey a little bit easier. With that in mind, continue reading to find out who the solid defenses are for 2009 in our downloadable Fantasy Football Cheat Sheets.

TIER 1

1. Pittsburgh Steelers (Bye: 8)

The Steelers had an unbelievable year in 2008, as they finished 1st in yards allowed (237.2), passing yards allowed (156.9), and points allowed (13.9) per game to go along with finishes of 2nd in rushing yards allowed (80.3) per game and sacks (51). They added 20 interceptions, 12 forced fumbles, and 1,125 tackles. In 2009, the toughest offenses they will face are the Chargers, Vikings, Packers, and Dolphins. Their weaker opponents include the Lions, Raiders, Chiefs, and Browns (twice).

Look for more of the same in 2009 from the top defensive unit of a year ago. While the team did lose cornerback Bryant McFadden to the Arizona Cardinals and linebacker Larry Foote to the Detroit Lions, the Steelers return 9 of 11 starters on defense. Look for William Gay to replace McFadden and former first round pick Lawrence Timmons to replace Foote, helping the Steelers not to miss a beat. Evander Hood, the 2009 first round draft pick, will be a nice welcome addition to an aging defensive line. With the great Dick Lebeau being the coordinator, expect more of the same in regards to pressure packages and taking opposing offenses out of their element.
