It’s hard to imagine that the Bears spent another draft pick on a tight end. They just let go of Trey Burton and still owe him money. They signed Jimmy Graham and still have Adam Shaheen and seven other tight ends on the roster and yet, they added another in Notre Dame product Cole Kmet with the 43rd pick overall.
Kmet his big and athletic and does everything good but not outstanding. It’s a down year for the tight end in the draft, which makes this pick a head scratcher. They had other needs but Matt Nagy is convinced that they yes, needed another tight end.
Excuse my skepticism but despite all the pomp and circumstance of tight ends from the past headed to Midway, the Bears rarely use their tight as an offensive weapon. It’s usually not until they leave for another team before they become fantasy relevant. See Greg Olsen.
