Ian Thomas, TE, Carolina Panthers
The Panthers are coming fresh off an early season bye week and will still be without starting tight end, Greg Olsen. Third round rookie draft pick Ian Thomas is in line to continue his role filling in as the teams starting tight end.
Thomas saw 5 targets in Week 3 before the teams bye and would have had a bigger day if he didn’t drop a would-be touchdown pass. Thomas has had a role in the red zone this season which is clutch for any tight end worth their salt. His 3 red zone targets this season ranks second on the team behind only Devin Funchess (4).
The Panthers have been known to funnel targets through their tight ends and now through the running back with McCaffrey such a big receiving threat. Thomas is worth monitoring if you’re thin at the tight end position as he could wind up being a solid streaming option if he maintains his role in the red zone.
