Marquez Valdes-Scantling, WR, Green Bay Packers

Next man up is taking ahold of the Packers wide receiver corps as both Randall Cobb and Geronimo Allison are looking iffy to play in Week 5. Next up on the depth chart is fifth round rookie, Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

A speedster with 4.37 40-yard dash wheels, MVS was the second fastest wideout at the combine this season behind Jaguars rookie, D.J. Chark (4.34). MVS had a slow and rocky start to training camp as the Packers horde of rookie wideouts were all called out by Aaron Rodgers at one point and asked to step up. MVS did just that, showing his game-breaking speed and contested catch ability going for over 100 yards and a touchdown in the first game of the preseason.

Valdes-Scantling stepped in last week catching only 1-of-3 targets for 38 yards while running 54-of-76 snaps in the slot. If both Allison and Cobb miss this week, we could see an increased role for MVS this week in a potential shoot out against the Lions. MVS carries huge sleeper appeal as a streaming option and is worth a pickup if you’re in need of a WR in 12+ team leagues.
