The Falcons could have gone one of two ways, draft a quarterback to transition from Matt Ryan, or give Ryan the most coveted weapon in the 2021 NFL Draft. They decided to go with the latter and picked Florida tight end Kyle Pitts.
Pitts has an incredible size, speed and wingspan for a tight end and is off the charts as far as a pass-catching weapon to pair with Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley. Pitts is also an excellent pass blocker and will likely be an every down player, even as a rookie.
Bruno Boys Hot Take
As mentioned above, Pitts adds to a potent offense, as long as the Falcons decide to keep Julio Jones and his cap-choking contract. Hayden Hurst was a serviceable tight end in 2020 but Pitts now adds a new dimension for the Falcons who can line up in 22 or 12 personnel groupings regularly. Pitts serves as a big red zone target for Ryan, leaving defenses to decide to double their receivers or pay for that mistake.
