It’s Week 16 the 2020 NFL season and fantasy football and it’s playoff time and for many, the Super Bowl! The 2020 season is full of difficult decisions in selecting the right waiver wire claims and knowing when to drop a player. By now most players are accustomed to navigating the COVID-19 situation as it disrupts games and schedules across the league. Again, this week it’s for all the marbles, win or go home.

It’s time to make the most crucial decision of them all–setting your lineups! Let’s about the Tight Ends!

The tight end position has seen a little bit of everything. Every week it seems we have a new names to consider. Some young ones developing right on time and that’s very encouraging for what is typically a talent-starved position. Then there are the journeymen whose names we kick around and stream each week.

It’s not always easy to navigate this feast or famine position, but we’re always looking out for the right matchups. Right now, let’s see which ones do NOT pass the grade for Week 16.

Jonnu Smith, Tennessee Titans at Green Bay Packers

Smith has been reduced to a middling touchdown-dependent TE2 after he started the season with a bang. In the first month of the season, Smith scored in double digits three of the four weeks, finishing in the top 10 in each of those big weeks. Since then though, Smith has failed to reach double digits again, despite scoring a touchdown in three straight games from Week 9-11. Yet, he still scored below 10.0 points.

Even with this game entering shootout potential, Smith has become an afterthought, especially against quality defenses. We think Smith is a risky play given the matchup and lower usage around the red zone with his teammates Corey Davis and A.J. Brown excelling in recent weeks.
