Kickers are always a wild card that can keep owners guessing week in and out over who to start. We will look at how good the opposing defenses are, the game scripts that would allow a high scoring affair and kicker accuracy. Let’s see which ones do NOT pass the grade for Week 5.

Brandon McManus, Denver Broncos at New England Patriots

Traditionally, the Patriots have not been generous to opposing kickers. Going back to 2019, the Patriots have allowed just two kickers to reach the three field goal threshold. Why is that important? It’s more likely that your kicker will reach 10+ points. That means everyone else for the last 20 games have converted two or fewer field goals.

McManus scored 18 points in Week 4 and owners in need of a kicker might stream him for Week 5. It’s just a bad matchup all around though. McManus has five career games against the Patriots going back to 2014. In all games but one, he converted just two or fewer field goals. Keep McManus on the watch list because he’s still one of the good kickers in the league. Once their offense stabilizes, and they settle in on a quarterback, McManus could return to prominence.
