The tight end position has seen a little bit of everything. We’ve seen a few season-ending injuries and some big names flake out in Week 1. Some young ones developing right on time and that’s very encouraging for what is typically a talent-starved position.
It’s not always easy to navigate this feast or famine position, but we’re always looking out for the right matchups. Right now, let’s see which ones pass the grade for Week 2.
Jared Cook, New Orleans at Las Vegas Raiders
The Saints are looking for help from the offense this week. Michael Thomas is officially out with an injury and Drew Brees will look for the next man up. Only no one simply replaces a guy like Thomas.
His void will be best filled by multiple players stepping up, like Emmanuel Sanders and Alvin Kamara. Cook showed in Week 1 that the chemistry between he and Brees did not suffer in the offseason. Cook is viewed at the bottom of the TE1 tier, but he should be considered elite in Week 2.
