The Giants needed more offensive pop headed into the draft. Now they have a new slot receiver to replace Golden Tate. Florida slot receiver Kadarius Toney will lineup with Sterling Shepard, Darius Slayton and Kenny Golladay.
GM Dave Gettlemen made this selection after trading down with the Chicago Bears for a healthy exchange. The Bears gave the Giants the 20th pick (Toney) and the 164th pick this season, and this is where Gettlemen cashed in – an additional 1st round pick and 4th round pick in 2022. All of that for chance to pick Justin Fields.
Bruno Boys Hot Take
The G-Men got good news that Saquon Barkley is back and will be on target to be 100 percent for training camp/Week 1. Golladay was acquired in free agency and will be the leader of the receiving corps. Slayton continues to develop as a deep threat. Evan Engram and Kyle Rudolph will duke it out in camp.
That’s a crowded bunch for Toney to make an impact in year one, but if Daniel Jones can take a step forward, maybe he can utilize Toney’s speed to his advantage. Watch for Toney as a PPR sleeper in 2021, but only in deep drafts or dynasty formats.
