Kerryon Johnson/Adrian Peterson, RB, Detroit Lions
With D’Andre Swift (concussion) out, Johnson had 98 total yards (46 rushing) on 15 touches (11 carries) on Thanksgiving Day against the Houston Texans. Over the last two games with Swift sidelined, Johnson most notably has nine targets in a split with Adrian Peterson.
Some extra time between games may allow Swift to return in Week 13 against the Chicago Bears. Over their last couple games the absence of defensive tackle Akiem Hicks (hamstring) has hurt the Bears run defense, and the effort level lacked at times in Week 12. So whoever will get carries for the Lions is lined up to have success.
Peterson had two touchdowns against the Texans, with 15 carries for 55 yards in total. He generally needs volume to produce anything notable, but in a two-man split with Johnson he looks like the goal line guy.
If Swift is cleared to play against the Bears, the fantasy values of Johnson and Peterson essentially go away. But with that standing as a question mark, along with the idea Swift would be slowly worked back in, the Lions other two running backs are on the radar as waiver wire adds in deeper leagues his week.
