There are some key things to be gathered in every game and the following is what we should take away from this past weekend.
1. Saints 26, Falcons 18
NOR – It wasn’t pretty, but Drew Brees made just enough plays while Taysom Hill caught a touchdown and ran for a 30-yard touchdown to clinch a victory over division rival Atlanta.
ATL – Matt Ryan had another 300 yard game in a losing effort and continued to target Calvin Ridley and Russell Gage plenty with Julio Jones out. The run game continues to disappoint, Ryan’s interceptions sealed their fate.
2. Titans 31, Colts 17
TEN – Hung tight and waited for Derrick Henry to take over the game. Broke the game as broken open with a huge special teams play and then a deep bomb from Ryan Tannehill to Kalif Raymond. Tannehill delivered once again, with a near flawless game, spreading the ball to nine different receivers and is now 5-1 as a starter.
IND – Jonathan Williams busted as the rookie running back was limited in touches after two straight weeks of being the workhorse. Zach Pascal and Jack Doyle stepped up for the injured T.Y. Hilton and Eric Ebron but it was Jacoby Brissett who was 25-for-40, and Adam Vinatieri who each had performances to forget. Vinatieri missed three field goals, with one being blocked and returned for a touchdown. The nightmare that is the 2019 season continues for the future Hall of Famer.
3. Steelers 20, Browns 13
PIT – The Steelers took chances and made some big plays when Devlin Hodges threw to James Washington. It was the only thing that worked in the pass game as Benny Snell took over the carries.
CLE – Another disappointing game for Odell Beckham Jr. as he was targeted just six times, and caught three for 29 yards. How the Browns don’t target him more is beyond me but Kareem Hunt secured himself more touches as Nick Chubb could not get free.
