Ryan Griffin and Chris Herndon, New York Jets vs. New York Giants
Griffin has taken over the job at tight end for the Jets and snuck in there while Herndon was coming off injury. Griffin also emerged when Sam Darnold returned as the starter after dealing with mono. Now that both are in play, that creates a committee situation and while Herndon is probably full of rust, his presence does bite into Griffin’s snaps. Herndon was a popular pre-season dark horse at the position but we don’t know what he brings, adds, takes away from Griffin. All we know is he is another weapon for Darnold, however, this is not a great spot for either tight end. Prior to last week, the Giants held the fort against the position from Weeks 2-8 as no tight ends scored against them in that stretch. Only the Cowboys have gotten production out of both Jason Witten and Blake Jarwin in two separate games this year.
