Sleeper: Darren Waller, Oakland Raiders vs. Denver Broncos

Gaining some steam after HBO’s Hard Knocks, but this is actually Waller’s third season, second with the Raiders and even though the Raiders typically don’t throw to their tight end, last year Jared Cook was targeted 101 times. Now, remember, the target distribution will be different this season with Tyrell Williams being the No. 1 option and an abundance of other wideouts fighting for targets. Cook is out but Waller has raced to the top of the depth chart with no real competition. He looked good in preseason and is poised to be a part of this offense going forward so we’ll just how much.

At the least, he’s worth a flyer for the end of your bench and if you’ve got a stacked lineup that’s just a tight end short of being a dominant roster, then Waller might fill that need for you as there are a lot bodies in the position that are teasing fantasy owners to be owned. At a bargain, and for the right owner, Waller could be a frugal pickup that pays dividends instantly because the Broncos gave up the 7th-most yards to the position with 1035 yards.
