It’s time to put the right players forward and keep the ball rolling. Seasoned fantasy players know about the studs and chalky plays so at Bruno Boys we try to help wade through the matchups on those tougher decisions, or point out when there’s a great matchup that you should go all-in on. That said, the early part of the season can be a tough one since the preseason shows so little to go on. Still, we feel very strong about these recommendations and you should use them to help guide you to your starting lineup.
Here are your Week 2 Fantasy Football Running Backs to Start.
FLEX PLAY: David Montgomery, Chicago Bears at Denver Broncos
Last week Montgomery owners were salivating to see what the rookie could do and in Week 1 he ran into a brick wall. The Packers performance on defense was a surprise, but look, that entire game was plagued by offense that couldn’t execute and superb defensive game plans. So what can we expect out of Montgomery in Week 2? First, let’s look at the committee in Chicago. Tarik Cohen has evolved into slot receiver in favor of Mike Davis who has become the primary backup for Montgomery. What does this mean for the rookie? Each back has their role and Montgomery is currently in a time share with Davis, who is only getting equal time because of his ability to pass protect.
A look at Montgomery’s carries and even in limited action, you could see how much better he is than Davis, especially in making the first guy miss. It just comes down to more touches for Montgomery and we see an increase in Week 2. As for the Broncos, they didn’t look as tough as they had been touted, giving up 85 yards and two touchdowns to rookie Josh Jacobs. I do think the Bears run game gets off the ground against the Broncos, it’s just a matter of how much of a piece will Montgomery gets, which keeps him at a strong flex play as opposed to a RB1 or RB2.
