Alexander Mattison, Minnesota Vikings vs. Detroit Lions
Dalvin Cook has removed from the Vikings injury report which means is good to go for the Week 14 games against the Lions. It’s a sweet rematch for Cook who scored two touchdowns the last time he faced the Lions. However, one wonders just how long they’ll keep Cook in if the Vikings go up large on the Lions. They’ll want to keep Cook fresh for the playoff push so he’ll be a regular feature while keep him from re-aggravating his shoulder injury.
So this is different scenario where Mattison has always impressed whenever he’s touched the ball. He’s just rarely had an opportunity to show what he can do with Cook ahead of him. It would be ballsy to play Mattison, but if you have a deep starting roster, and can absorb the hit if Cook dominates the carries, Mattison is a sneaky play with some big upside. Obviously if the Vikings decide to hold out Cook for precaution, you go all in Mattison and if they verbally say that Cook is getting all of the touches, then consider looking elsewhere for upside.
