The 2019 NFL season is now 7 weeks old and time is running out to start picking up people from your fantasy football waiver wire. Every year a no name blows up in Week 1 and ends up being a top-20 fantasy football player over the remainder of the season. So, instead of letting your competition beat you to the punch, use your fantasy football waiver wire to find the next big thing.
Let’s get things started by taking a look at some fantasy football waiver wire tight ends for Week 8.
Gerald Everett, TE, Los Angeles Rams
Everett had four catches (on 10 targets) for 50 yards and a touchdown against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 7, and if Jared Goff hadn’t missed him for a score he would have had 90 yards and two scores. Over the last four games, he has 34 targets with at least 15 fantasy points (full-point PPR) three times in that span.
In Week 8 Everett gets the Cincinnati Bengals, who entered Week 7 in the top half of the league against tight ends. But that’s a residual of being so bad against quarterbacks and running backs in particular, with target volume ceded to tight ends that sits on the bottom-10 of the league. The three competent tight ends they’ve faced, George Kittle, Dawson Knox and Mark Andrews, all had somewhat decent days.
A Week 9 bye has to be taken into consideration. But Everett is a legit TE1 at this point, and he needs to be owned more than he is.
