Ben Watson, TE, New England Patriots

Watson was eligible to play in Week 5, but coming off a four-game suspension and perhaps with conditioning issues or age (38, 39 in December) in mind the Patriots did not activate him. Then they did not activate him on Monday afternoon, so he will be a free agent and he hopes to continue his career.

Watson has managed to deliver some fantasy value in recent years. Last year with the New Orleans Saints was not that great (35 receptions for 400 yards), but two of the three seasons he’s had more than 60 catches in his career came in 2015 (74 catches) and 2017 (61 catches) his age-35 and age-37 seasons respectively.

Watson is a highly speculative add. But under the assumption he lands somewhere quickly, a generally shallow tight end landscape puts him on the fantasy radar.
