The 2019 NFL season is now 5 weeks old and there is still enough time to start picking up people from your fantasy football waiver wire. Every year a no name blows up in Week 1 and ends up being a top-20 fantasy football player over the remainder of the season. So, instead of letting your competition beat you to the punch, use your fantasy football waiver wire to find the next big thing.
Let’s get things started by taking a look at some fantasy football waiver wire wide receivers for Week 6.
Diontae Johnson, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers
Johnson’s five catches on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens only went for 27 yards, and his touchdown streak ended at two games. But he had eight targets, and he now has 11 receptions over the last two contests and 20 targets over the last three.
With James Washington failing to step up after Donte Moncrief’s struggles, Johnson is filling the void opposite Ju Ju Smith-Schuster as Pittsburgh’s No. 2 wide receiver. A big fly in that ointment is quarterback Mason Rudolph’s concussion on Sunday, which throws the Steelers’ quarterback situation into further turmoil with Ben Roethlisberger of course out for the season.
Even without knowing for sure who his quarterback will next week right now, Johnson should be owned in all 12-team leagues.
