Frank Gore, RB, Buffalo Bills
With Devin Singletary (hamstring) out, Gore was Buffalo’s clear lead back on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals and finished with 14 carries for 76 yards and a touchdown as well as two catches for 16 yards.
Singletary may only miss one game, but even if he does return Gore had 11 carries in Week 1 when the rookie was totally healthy. The game script in Week 4 against the New England Patriots isn’t likely to favor a big workload for Gore, but if he’s only got T.J. Yeldon as significant competition for touches he will be usable as a flex play. Then a middle of the road matchup is on the slate for Week 5 (Tennessee Titans), with a very good matchup coming off a Week 6 bye in Week 7 (Miami Dolphins).
Gore’s weekly impact is tied to Singletary’s health, and to a parallel degree his usage. But the 36-year old running back is worthy of a roster spot in leagues with 12 or more teams.
