Denver Broncos, D/ST

As of this writing, the Broncos have yet to face the Oakland Raiders in the Monday night Week 1 nightcap. But regardless of how their defense does in that game, the unit gets a very favorable matchup in Week 2.

The Chicago Bears were part of a season-opening Thursday night game that set offensive football back decades in Week 1, as they had 254 total yards and if not for back-to-back nice throws that totaled 49 yards Mitchell Trubisky numbers (26-for-45 for 228 yards) would have looked even worse.

The Broncos also have a coach who knows Matt Nagy’s offense, and Trubisky, quite well. Vic Fangio was Chicago’s defensive coordinator before Denver hired him as head coach, so he’ll surely help author a defensive game plan that will work quite well to flesh out Trubisky’s limitations.

Their ownership rate straddles the line of consideration for a top waiver wire add, but there’s room to add Denver’s defense and they might finish as the top-scoring fantasy defense in Week 2.
